With the pto shaft free, and spinning the blades from under, I don't hear the click. The only thing though is there is only a click when force is applied to the shaft by hand. If I just let it coast there is no click. I didn't take the pto off, just removed the shear bolt, and let it spin. The clip to fully remove was hard to reach.

I plan to "use it" and see. I'm straightening up some parts. Looks like someone hit a tree and twisted the a-frame and wheel. I got the wheel square but need about 5 degrees on the wheel mount to get it perpendicular to the deck. If the gearbox is good them my $600 spent will be ok. It needs new runners on the front though. The bottom is rusted away.

I have found the shaft usually is the culprit, not the a-frame. I have had some luck backing the tail wheel into a stump or curb to bend it back into position. The good thing is that the tail wheel stuff is all over E-Bay and is not very expensive.

I think everything is twisted. I squared up the fork, the hub, but still out 5 degrees or so. The A frame on the tail wheel looks about right, but the receiver for the fork shaft is tilted. Almost looks like it was welded that way, but no signs of rewelding. It's workable but bugs me
