I have been hesitant to post this question because it may not come to be. But I have found a JD 5510 with Cab, MFWD, and 540 loader. Tractor has about 2000 hrs, 3 rear scv's. What are your opinions of this tractor? I really won't need the loader, but that will come with it. Is this 4 cyl, turbo?

The price is approx. $25k. I need to sell my truck before I can buy it, but I was wondering if I should even consider it. What's your opinions?

Looking online at tractors for sale, prices on a comparable unit run $25-32,000. 4 cyl. turbo, 75 PTO HP.

Mostly mowing. I am always finding things around the house to do. I may pull a small pan, use it for road maintenance, and whatever else I find. But mostly mowing.

For that kind of money I would wait to find a 20 series CAB tractor. The 10 series CABS are nowhere near as nice as the 20 series and you should be able to buy a 20 series in that price range...might have to wait a little longer for the deal to come around but we get several in a year well below the 30K figure that are nice tractors. Good luck!

The 10 series CABS are nowhere near as nice as the 20 series and you should be able to buy a 20 series in that price range...might have to wait a little longer for the deal to come around but we get several in a year well below the 30K figure that are nice tractors. Gotta agree that I would look for a 20 series machine at that price, if for no other reason than the future trade-in value. I have never seen a 10 series or a 20 series cab tractor so I can not comment on the comparison.

The 55XX will certainly do the job.

I am glad you guys chimed in about the cabs. I've never seen inside the 10 series, but I did look up a comparison on the 10's and 25's. The interior db's were just as low or lower on the 10's. Other than that, I know nothing else about them.

All the controls are different...the 10 series CABs are basically a cab set onto an open station tractor, i.e there is still a hump in the middle and the materials used aren't super nice. The 20 series has a flat floor, the controls come out from the consol not the floor, materials are much nicer...like I said if you are willing to spend close to 30K you would be much happier with a 20 series cab.
