You can spray automotive paint, or sandblast with "battery tools"?

Everything I need to do. I don't need to paint or sandblast. And if, by some chance I did need a quality finish, I have several powder coat shops within an hours drive.

The Kobalt is two stage, has good reviews, and puts out 11 cfm at 175psi.
That is 20psi. more than the DeWalt, meaning your air supply will last longer before the compressor must restart.
If you are a veteran, when you buy this compressor from Lowe's you will get a 10% discount.

Neither of these is anywhere near the same quality as a 5HP Quincy Pro, but neither costs $2200+ either.

Those stats are terrible. 11 cfm is a joke. And it's actually 10.7 for the Kobalt, according to the specs online. The 175 psi is a useless stat. Its cfm that does the work. The Dewalt shows 11.5 @ 90 psi, which is also poor, but they don't even tell you what the cfm would be at 155.

Take a hard look at the Quincy compressors, over either one of these. Much better stats, much higher cfm at the high psi range too.

Ah yes....powder coating....the most despicable coating ever invented.

OH ....absolutely DO look at the Quincy compressors.
I have the 5HP Quincy Pro, but..... check your wallet.
Best price I have seen for the 5HP Quincy Pro (has pressure lubrication) is $2200 plus shipping, direct from Quincy, Ill.

The Quincy QT-54 (not the same quality as the Pro) is $1400 online with free shipping.

Local store here, small chain of stores, Runnings sells the Quincy brand compressors. I got the QT-54 on sale for less than $1400.

It works well enough and it's cheaper than buying a compressor with way more CFM than I'd ever use in my day-to-day repairs. For small stuff I could probably take it to a local small OEM and have them add it to their paint line, as long as I'm not picky about color.

I'm in the HF camp too, but mine are smaller. Little pancake one for remote site (filling tires, quick hit with an impact tool), then the 21 gal. 2.5 HP 125 PSI I use all the time. Keeps up with my blast cabinet so don't need any more than that. Loud as a train is only complaint.... For $150, I absolutely love it! - earplugs are cheap :)

Mine's the 5 hp 2 stage. 15.2 cfm @ 175 psi, 15.7 cfm @ 90 psi.
