I sure will. Now I just have to find a way to get the dealer to deliver it sooner!

Hi,

I have been looking at the JD2210, BX2230 and the equivalent NH TZs. Can you explain the advantages/disadvantages between two designs: the Kubota B series units are built using a fabricated steel chassis vs. other tractors use a more traditional gear case / casting structure?

Thanks

My comment was based on the comparison of the two tractors in the original post, and I have not looked at the smaller size JD and NH you mention here, so I'm not sure how they are built. What I meant was that Kubota uses a fabricated steel frame on the B and BX range, much like that on a truck, to attach the engine to the rear axle and lift assy. This allows certain advantages in packaging, and keep the weight down. The 1428v has large castings, gearboxes etc., that attach the enginge to the rear axle assy. - this is how most all larger tractors have been made, and accounts for the increased weight. There are advantages & disadvantages to each method, it is just a difference which is worth understanding. The BX has a steel frame, as does the GC2300 I think, but you'll have to look at the JD & NH to be sure about them. The sub-CUT's are all pretty light, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're built with a fabricated steel frame of some kind.

Hi, been a visitor for a few months, now a new member. Great web site. Very friendly, very informative. Thank you.

I too have been looking at both the MF 1428 and B7800. I like the hp for the frame size. All other brands go to the next frame size for the 30hp class, which is getting awkward for me. I don't need to be any larger. One question, the MF 1431 goes further on the same frame to 33hp. Are there any problems at that power-to-weight ratio? I am tempted by the extra PTO power.

Bob

Hi, BOB and welcome to TBN! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
In your question about the extra power, IMO only if you run large pto implements would the extra power useful such as a 6' rotary cutter . Then you would have to probably add weight to the front to keep it down. I have tried to see why the 1431 exists but I can't seem to figure it out(massey must know), The 1428 seems to have ample power from everything read in these posts,My bro in law has a 1428v and has no complaints other than watch-out when lifting 3 point careful it doesn't crunch the PTO-sheild.
I would consider a 1431 if I was getting hydro trans (a little more power consumption)and needed plenty of pto power + FEL /BH ... I think for me the pricing issue difference between 1428 and 1431 is a road block for me... Or have the prices gotten closer together? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I am looking at the HST versions. As for pricing, I don't have a lot of history here. I have not talked seriously to the dealer, just got some first response numbers. 1428v std tran with FEL same as Gary above, $14,950. HST option at $15,800. They threw out a price of $16,350 for the 1431 HST.

Gary, did you ever consider the 1431 during your buy decision? If so, what were your thoughts?

Bob, That's not bad at all , When I was looking in my area the 1431 was closer in price to the 1433 so thats what I ended up buying (1433),It is a little overkill for me,But I was used to that size tractor and have implements that will work on either..
$550 bucks for 5hp sounds kinda bad ,Is there any other difference besides HP and maybe a folding ROPS ?

With the 1500 series is coming out soon(I guess)maybe they would be a little more willing to talk TURKEY /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif (seasonal joke)
and give an even better deal?? One can always hope.. As long as the dealer knows your serious about buying a tractor from him ,He will be all the more inclined to give the best deal he can /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Also as it has been said before "Its nice to have the HP and not need it ,than to need it and not have it"

No, I didn't consider the 1431 or 1433. I had been looking at the Deere 2210 so the 1428 was a good step up. Looking for something bigger wasn't something I considered.

I've had the 1428v for a bit and find it to be a superb tractor. I had looked at: deer 2210, deere 4310 ePowerrever, Kubota b7800, and the NH TC30.

For me, the 1428v hydro was the best tractor for the money.
