I would like some opinions on owners experiences with 3 point rear mowers. I have been told that the Bush Hog brand is hard to beat but would like some feedback. Thank you

I have put 1000+ hours on a medium duty BUSH-Hog branded cutter with no problems;I also have a Landpride that has been good.

If yous stick with the name brands, there isn't a lot of difference. Heavy duty for all the brands is stronger then medium and light duty. You get a stronger gear box, thicker metal and better tail wheel. I have Landpride and it's been excellent. If you are going to do a lot of mowing, a slip clutch is well worth the price.

I bought a 5 foot King Kutter because of the Flex Hitch feature. I have run cutters that didn't have the FH and I thought it would work out for me. With a cutter without the FH, if you hit an object like a low stump with one of the front corners, the entire front hops (no flex). With the KK FH cutter, each front corner can act independent of the other and will smoothly slide over the object. There were no videos that showed this in action but I bought one anyways. I am VERY happy how this goes over rough ground and how it acts over stumps/roots. If your not hitting anything with the front corners and your land is smooth, then you won't notice the difference.

I’m partial to Bush Hog because they invented the rotary cutter, and thus the term bush hog is colloquially used around here to describe any brand of rotary cutter. However, in terms of quality, I have no doubt that other major brands like Landpride, Woods, Rhino, etc all make excellent quality rotary cutters.

I have a king kutter with the flex hitch and it's been trouble free and I use it hard. I really like the flex hitch design when it comes to rough or uneven terrain. I know they're not known to be a real high end cutter but I have no complaints about them.

I would think - Rhino, Land Pride, Brown, Bush Hog, Woods. I've used a Brown. Would have worked out better if I had a cabbed tractor. But for cutting - it is a beast.

would agree w/above recommendations. also what Eddie Walker said about heavy duty. would recommend chains ft & rear for safety. do check out the pto hp requirements 1st, if your tractor can handle the weight safely, esp on hills. good luck
