Thank you all. I was not specific but I was asking about a standard rotary mower not a finish mower. I have cutover land with a lot of stumps so I appreciate the advice about a flex hitch.

Stumps....I had 1800 trees removed, 1 every 7 foot (old tree farm), many didn't get ground flush so I like a cutter that goes over them. At some time the pine stumps rot out but I still like the flex hitch.

Check out BadBoy cutters. I've been impressed with their build quality. It is very heavy duty.

It depends on what you are doing w it. My tsc rotory cutter is just fine for maintaining my horse pasture. No way would I use it for commercial mowing.

I will be buying a new rotary cutter SOON, and there's NO question about what new cutter I'm buying.

I only buy equipment that will last, even through farm abuse, so my new mower is going to be, a Woods "medium duty" Brush Bull!

I've got two Woods mowers now, and they have been the best mowers I have ever owned.

I've had Woods, Bush Hog twice, McCormick, Ford, and 2 no names over the years. Seems that the heavier the construction, the better they hold up. A cheap light duty mower tends to have a shorter life span than the heavier gauge versions. One of the Bush Hogs was a light duty, it got beat up pretty quick; one of the no names is built like a tank and looks to have another 40 years of abuse left in it. Everything else performed pretty much as one would expect. You get what you pay for.

That Woods BB720 is a good choice. I have one, and also have the version below that, the BB72, which is lighter duty. The 720 is much better, and has held up better than the lighter duty one. I especially prefer the replaceable skids, as they can be removed and repaired or scabbed. I’m bad about wearing skids on my rough land. The gear box and blades are also more stout. It’s hard to beat that one for the money.

I now have three Woods rotary cutters, I figure this is the last cutter I'll need to buy...
