I'm close to settled on ordering a the above to use around my 4 acres. I'll be cleaning up an overgrown field to plant something? I'm in New England, everyone plants Butternut, but perhaps I'll just plant forage. I'll have snow to move and so on. OK, so I'm getting an expensive toy!

I would appreciate opinions on options and or implements that I should consider. I will get a tiller, but I'm not sure what else. How about the 4 in 1 bucket? Any pros or cons I should consider? Anything else I will say " I should have added ???.

Thanks

Don

I can't offer a lot help as I have only had the HST for a few months now. However, I have used the loader quite a bit and the HST is great for that. I have the HD roundback bucket and if that is an option it is worth the extra money, also a toothbar really helps with brush clearing and dirt work. The difference with the toothbar is quite remarkable. I have never used the 4 in 1 bucket.

A box scraper is great for rear ballast and very useful for dirt work. Eco fluid in the rear tires and some sort of puncture protection for the front tires (Slime or some other sealer). Kubota's are a light machine extra weight is a must for effective loader use.

What work are you going to do with it besides tilling and snow removal? 4 in 1 wouldn't be at the top of my list unless you're really into ground clearing. Expensive and heavy... cuts into lifting capacity of the FEL. How will you move the snow? At least a rear blade; blower is even better. Mowing?

Sounds like you are making a wise choice
Add at least one rear remote
get the QA plate for the loader.
Load rear tires at local tire shop instead of dealer. rimguard or CaCI
dont overlook the used market for equipment.
consider a fuel storage/pump outfit its a pain to refuel with 5 gal cans over that new hood.
Wipe that smile off your face while tractoring:D

The 3940 is a really nice size tractor and very capable, I was going to get one, but wanted a cab, so got a bigger one to compensate for the cab.

Things I would add would be of course FEL with SSQA, HST, a minimum of two rear remotes, three bucket hooks, hydraulic top-link, filled tires or weights, and ballast box or heavy box blade etc. for 3PH.

I am sure there are others, but you may need to use it a while before deciding so you don't wind up with equipment you don't use; been there done that.

I don't know anything about 4 n 1 buckets.

I am very happy with mine. I have alot of implements, but the ones I use most are hydraulic top link, RFM, FEL, front blade, ballast box, box blade, pulverizer, post hole digger. I would get two rear remotes, one for hydraulic top link and one for something else. Research your tire choices. Philip.

I won't do a lot of snow work, just my driveway.

I will eventually get a mower, just not sure what yet.

Thanks for your opinion on the 4 in 1, I don't expect to do a lot of land clearing, just the initial field clean up.

thanks!

Nice choice of tractors, the L3940 is just the right size.I would get the 72"round-back bucket(HD),SS quick attach, maybe a tooth-bar on the bucket(for dirt work)
For your first year of snow removal...you may want to consider a medium duty rear blade, seven ft.
After your first year you can decide if you need more for snow removal.I use a FEL mounted snow-plow blade and a rear blade. In the NE if storeing out-side you may need a block heater.

Lots of good info. I'll second (third?) adding more weight in the back. The Ls are light in the back and combined with a strong loader can make life interesting. SSQA is a must as are rear remotes. Front remotes are handy (and $) for grapple or FEL mounted snow plow angling. Work lights for use at night as the headlights don't work well. Enjoy!
