I am in the market for a new 3PH roto tiller for my Kubota L3710. One of the local dealers carries Kuhn. I was looking at the EL 42-155, Looks like a solid machine but a bit pricey @ $2100.00.

I am not opposed to spending the bucks on a quality tiller, but I know very little about Kuhn. Anyone have any first hand experience with them. Any opinions?

Thanks,

Gary

I've had mine for fifteen years or more and have had no problems what so ever with it. I have to replace my first set of tines, so you know I don't do a ton of tilling with it. I bought it new when I had my first little Kubota. It's a 42" tilling width.

I've had the EL-32 for 5 or 6 years. I pull it behind a Kubota B2400. You're right, it is a little pricey. There are cheaper makes out there but IMHO, Kuhn is one of the best there is and have a very good reputation. I've had absolutely no problems with mine and it's chewed up or pretzelled concrete blocks, rebar and fenceposts.

I don't know what your experience with tillers is but I found that I used mine a lot when I first got it and now I only use it about 3 or 4 times a year to till ground that has been previously tilled. So, if you use yours a lot and can see a continuing need to use it a lot, a Kuhn tiller will meet your needs but if your need is for a lot of work initially and then just maintenance work thereafter, a cheaper make may be more cost effective. But, make no mistake, Kuhn makes a very good and tough line of tillers that will last for years.

Steve and Frank,

Thanks for the input. What little research I was able to do (mainly from the Kuhn site) told me it was a quality built tiller. I can see myself working this thing pretty hard for at least five years so it is looking better and better over purchasing an “economy” tiller.

Now if I can only convince the wife to let me get her a 3PH apple peeler.

Thanks again,

Gary

I've encountered the same sort of debris with my $1100 howse tiller and havent even bent a tine yet
