Opinions on l60 vs l40, esp FEL hydraulics routing?

I bought an L5740 last summer to avoid the L60, but I think some of the concerns have been laid to rest as to the Tier IV and the L60 especially in the cab has some really nice features. Having said that, I would still pick an L40 for what I do, we have bent steps etc., working in our woods and those lines are just too exposed for me; might work well for others though.

I saw a larger lxx60 very briefly today and with the bigger size it seems like the hydraulics routing worked out better and was less "external".

Here's some pics of an l5060 I saw this morning. It doesn't have rear remotes so I can't say where they would be routed.

So although the upper hoses are in the same place as the l4060, notice there are no exposed lines below the tractor that I saw (because of the bigger frame I think) as compared to the l4060.

Just sharing in case of interest to anyone. Please excuse poor images from my new cellphone.

That is a nice tractor but the hose routing is not as clean looking as what it is on the LA854 loader.

Yes, but the problem is something that runs the la854 is no longer available.

I've had no trouble from mine. It does hang out there a bit. I've been through some thick places, had some hard slaps on the mirrors but nothing jumped up and bit me yet. I think it would take something popping up and then the forward momentum of the tractor to really get it good.

The brush or sticks that get you are the ones that are wedged under the tractor from forward momentum, and then a direction change. The tall stuff that reaches the mirrors aren't going to give you much problem.

Too exposed for me, but handy during removal.

I'll expand my search to include the l4740, too.

I guess you could go with a L60 and a aftermarket loader.

Don't get me wrong, I think the l4060 is a sweet tractor, esp if one wants a cab. Nicer than a l40 series in some ways.

I am only talking about the seemingly greater vulnerability of some of the hoses for certain kinds of work. Probably won't not matter to most owners, but I tend to use machines in ways not really intended by the manufacturer.
