Opinions on Polaris atv\'s and Rangers needed

Hi everyone. I would like to get feed back from owners of Polaris atv's and Ranger's. I'm heading to Minesota to meet with them as a prospect dealor for their products. Our core business is in the lawn/garden and compact tractors. We would like to complete our current lines with UTV and ATV products. So what do you think of them? (Product wise and company wise)

Thanks in advance for your comments!!

Re: Opinions on Polaris atv\'s and Rangers needed

I have a Ranger 6x6 and love it.... no problems and dependable so far.

I would also add www.utilityoffroad.com as a very good site for the Rangers (and Rhino, Mule, Gator-type machines). The general concensus there is that Polaris is much better than Yamaha regarding acknowledging and dealing with problems as soon as they arrise rather than stonewalling or denying the obvious.

The several Polaris dealers I talked to before my purchase seemed much more straight forward than the several Yamaha dealers when I was considering a Rhino (Denver area). I am sure there are exceptions both ways however.

Good Luck and stay in touch with the outside world through monitoring (and participating) in at least several forums. Sounds like you are interested in doing right by your customers.

Re: Opinions on Polaris atv\'s and Rangers needed

I have two friends who each own a Polaris, and they talked me out of buying a Polaris Ranger and into buying the Rhino. I realize that dealers obviously vary by areas, but both of my friends claim that they always are working on their ATV's or having them in the shop. Neither is running right now. Both offered to sell me their Polaris so they could buy something else.
I've never owned a Polaris and was going to buy the 6X6 Ranger until they talked me out of it.

Thanks guy's for the refered forums. I've posted on ATV connection and AtvQuadSquad. Comments like your's are starting to come in. You might want to check the comments in the Polaris section in the respective forums. As for our customers, your right about wanting to do good by them. Being service oriented is what makes us different. We never pass the buck to our suppliers when there's a problem. We service and represent our customer's for anny problem they might encounter with our brands. If our custommers feel they lost then we have lost also. We hate to loose. We make sure that our suppliers give their outmost or we'll drop them before our customers decide to drop us. This is what kept us in business for fifty years this year. And we're active to dominate the market in our area for the next fifty.

Please keep your comments coming. They are of great help.

Regards,

M.Samson

P.s. I'll check out Utillty Offroad for the Rangers. I'll probably post there tomorow /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Opinions on Polaris atv\'s and Rangers needed

I've never card for Polaris ATV's but I have used a Ranger quite ab it and it's a good machine. IMO I think the Polaris atvb's are junk, most people I have talked to seemed to always be having problems withtehm as far as bushings, drive lines, engines, suspension components, you name it. A lot fo dealers around here won't even take them in on trade because they can't get rid of them or simply don't want to have to fix the dern things. Just my opinion and I'm sure others will disagree but you ask for opinoins so I gave my .02's worth.

Re: Opinions on Polaris atv\'s and Rangers needed

I bought a used Polaris 700 Sportsman a year ago that I use to skid logs and collect sap on my 13 acres with 200+ taps. I make maple syrup. I am very impressed with the pulling power of this machine!! It will go 60mph or more but most of my time is spent in low gear and all wheel drive. I have pulled out some good size poplar and cherry logs with this machine. It does go through gas quickly like this but I bought it as a work machine and I'd rather pay for the gas and get the job done. The only problems I have had with it is a broken wire that engages the AWD, I was still able to plow my driveway in 2wd with chains, and the bearings on the rear axle had to be replaced.

Re: Opinions on Polaris atv\'s and Rangers needed

I have several friends that have them and based on the maintenance problems with them i wouldnt spend my money on one.
i have a friend that has a 700 and the thing stays broke. he really wants a honda. my foreman has 3800 miles of work and the only thing i have done is change a left rear bearing.
some like them and have no problems but IMO i wouldnt buy one!

Re: Opinions on Polaris atv\'s and Rangers needed

I've got a Ranger 6x6 with 39 hours on it, and I use it to maintain 17 acres. The work I've done is mostly hauling dead tree limbs, pulling dead trees out of the creek, moving supplies and pulling a mower. It's worked very well thus far. I'm particularly impressed with its traction. I've just not been able to get it stuck. (and I've tried. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif) I've crossed the creek that runs through our property (black clay mud, hills) several times and have not been stuck. The six wheel drive really is impressive.

Now, having said that; today I noticed something wrong with the front wheels. It feels like something is broken in the steering or the front transmission. I'm going to take it in to the dealer this week. I'll let y'all know how that goes.

Overall, I think it's a very capable machine--great cargo capacity, excellent traction, very powerful and fast.

Nelson,

As I also have a 6x6 I would be interested in what the problem turns out to be with your front end. Please keep us posted.

Good Luck, Rip
