Opinions on the L5460?

Morning;
I don't see what model 70hp Belarus/loader you had and were using but they are pretty heavy solid tractors, it seems like you are stepping down quite a bit
in physical size and horsepower as well as capabilities. You already have a pair of small tractors, I'd be leery of getting not enough tractor to be satisfied with.

I think it's a 525.

Yes, it's a big, heavy, powerful tractor. However, it's crude, the front end is kinda iffy, and the loader is seriously underbuilt for the tractor and the hydraulics. Only my dad, me, and my brother are allowed to use it, as it'd be pretty easy to destroy either the front end or the loader (or both). I've never seen a tractor pull like this one, and I've seen stuff up to 100hp.

A modern 4x4 tractor in the 55hp range with a loader rated around a ton would be plenty. As I said earlier, the 1643 almost does everything we need it to...but not quite. A Kubota L5460, Massey 1754, or Deere 4052 would be plenty.

However, I don't like the new Massey loaders and green plastic fenders and hoods are expensive, so that's why I am looking at the L5460.

Is yours an emissions tractor? If so, how does it all work?

My L3560 is Tier 40.

Approximately once every 60 engine hours the REGENERATION LIGHT comes on.

I regenerate in my driveway, stopped. You push REGENERATION button and the engine automatically increases engine turns to 2,200 rpm, to raise heat.

For about 16 minutes it runs at 2,200 rpm, then slows down, regeneration finished. Time varies a minute or two depending on ambient temperature.

Cost: about $1.00 in diesel fuel.

Overall I like the 5460 as much as the 5240 it replaced. The loader is noticeably stronger. There are some differences I am still getting used to and there are some design areas where the Kubota design folks missed and the 5460 is lacking. I really need to start a new thread comparing the old and new tractors.

Feel free to message me through this forum if you want to take a look. Jim

That would be an interesting thread.
