Opinions Wanted - Small Round Baler

/ Opinions Wanted - Small Round Baler #11
Small mini-round bales are great! Although stacking them to get them off the field takes a little more know-how than square, there is no problem stacking them in the barn. They feed out easily and so far my mini-star baler has produced zero cone shaped like the old AC unit's used to do in the 50's. On my regular 1/2 ton I normally get 40-50 square bales comfortably without tying. I was only able to get 39 of these mini-round bales but they had to be tied on.
The best prices I could find for the star mini baler was at tractorconnection.com.

When I was in Grade school we had an Allis baler. We ha d an end gate on each end of the wagon. my job was to drive along side of the bale while my Dad would use along bale hook to lift each bale onto the wagon then stack it. they stacked like cigaretes. You had to be sure to stack big end out. We mowed them the same way except you had to keep the bale perpendicular to the side of barn. We fed in feeder or rolled them out in manger in front of cows. It was a dependable baler. Ihave one I want to restore when I get time and $. Renovaror

I don't know what is in them (alfalfa, whatever?), where he sends them or who is buying them but its a big operation and he seems to be making a lot of money with it (big house, nice cars, trucks, tractors, barn, pool, etc.)baler?

Are you sure it's Hay in those bales? I've never heard of anyone making much money off haying.

Maybe he's growing and baling something more fun than hay!:D Whatever it is, it seems to pay the rent.

Seriously, anyone who has hay in this area is sure making money off it.

Also, recently went by there and the bales are in fact, small round bales and the baler is a Heston(?). In fact, there are two of these little balers in the same area. He may own both of them for all I know.

His mower is this enourmous pull behind Krone.

In watching the video of the small round balers, sure looks like a pain to stop every few feet to let it tie and kick out a bale, the mini square balers just kept on going.

Personally I can not understand the interest in these small round balers. First off, they cost a fortune. Second, why not just buy a smaller square baler like my 24t that could be pulled by a smaller tractor and the small squares are easier to stack and your able to get more of them in a given area than those little rounds. If your tractor doesn't have the pto power to run a small square baler such as mine just do like in the old days and mount a small stationary engine on the baler in place of the pto. Or you could get a Case-IH 8420 round baler like the one I have for sale and make a 3.5'wide x 4.5' tall round bale weigh 550lbs and can be pulled by a 30hp tractor and only needs one hydraulic remote to open the gate, the tie is manually operated.
