I remember a thread in the past about having a warning indicator that the park brake is set. Well, now I agree. You see, back when I originally read that thread I thought a warning isn't necessary because I could tell the park brake was set on my B3300; that is until yesterday. I was moving dirt with the FEL and at one point stopped on a slightly slopping area. Before getting off the tractor to pick up a limb in the way, I lowered the bucket and 3pt blade (after all, safety first) then set the park brake on the first notch. I moved the limb and decided to get a drink of water while I was off the tractor. I climbed back on and resumed moving and smoothing dirt. Then I started smelling something like a clutch disk slipping and it dawned on me; park brake!! I guess now all I can do is hope I didn't cook anything too badly. :(

On my L4200 there is an indicator light for the parking brake... it's handy and has the switch for it on the brake locking lever...
However I ONLY use the 'park brake' when it is Needed... if I have a bucket on the loader OR an attachment on the 3point without wheels, I lower that for a far superior brake...
Every time I apply the brake locking lever, I consciously ask myself, Why am I using this & is there a Better way to accomplish it... But then I learned to do this on very large heavy equipment, with enough HP & gearing to overcome the largest of brakes... KennyV

Confession is Good for the Soul.

I, too, forget to release the parking brake on my Kubota B3300SU.
It is easy to drive around with the parking brake on, especially in LOW transmission range.

I would like to have a big, bright IDIOT LIGHT flashing whenever the parking brake is applied and the engine is running.

When I had the L3400HST I left the brake on for a few feet a couple of times. and I just got in the habit of always setting the brake and always stomping the brake pedal each and every time I pushed in the clutch to start up. I never left it on again. My new Kioti has that big beautiful red "idiot" light with a big "P" in the middle of it.:)

Even an bright idiot light doesn't always help some idiots, namely me. My Bobcat has the indicator light and have to set the brake to get off if leaving engine running. There have still been a number of times I have jumped back on and taken off the with the brake set. Now I just set the brake harder with more force so I can feel the tractor groan when going against the brake.

I have a simple solution. I set the brake hard. That way when I forget it the tractor has a hard time moving.

Bad thing is, I probably ran it for 10 or 15 minutes before I realized how bad I screwed up. I usually set the brake hard, not this time; I usually don't throttle up all the way to work RPM before moving, not this time; I usually use mid range to get where I'm going to do the work before shifting into low range, not this time. All those things I would normally do would have let me know the park brake was set, you guessed it, not this time.

I have done it countless times over cple years and probaly will do it several more times:D

I left the parking brake engaged just yesterday. I usually drop the bucket and don't set the brake but I was swapping grapple for bucket and forgot. I went a 100 yards or so before realizing the brake was set. I have thought about hanging a bright ribbon on the the parking brake handle that I would put on the steering wheel when I engage the brake to remind me to release the brake.

It is a problem with the hydro tranny as it will hold most times and only need to set the brake rarely hence no habit gets formed. Also the L does have a light but it is quite dim in sunlight so it gets missed all the time. Need a buzzer or something.
