I saw on previous posts no one had a optima solution for my tc33d. Optima released a new model (D51) that is a bolt in. It was pricey but I had enough of the acid mess up front. Im still wondering what damage might have been done sucking the whole mess through the radiator. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Joel, there's probably no way of determining this other than just looking for surface damage. Before I replaced my battery, I washed the battery area down with a baking soda solution and sprayed lots of water everywhere else. Sure wish the Optima D51 was available a few months ago. Even at three times what I paid at TSC, I would have gotten it.

Hi,

I've been running an Optima in my Class III almost since it was delivered. I yanked the OEM battery, gave it to my buddy and dropped in the OPTIMA. Nothing but good things. It stays clean, no post corrosion, and seems to bang over the engine even in the winter ( below zero w/ no block heater ).

I don't regret spending the $$$. I don't think you will either.

Guys.. not sure if you ask your dealers.. but that acid all over the place is covered under the warrenty.. a new tractor should not be spraying everything under the hood w/ battery acid. The dealer replaced mine and replaced the damaged hoses, etc. Haven't had a problem w/ the battery acid since.

Hey Ken, I was aware that the fix is a warranty item, but when I figured loss of use and transport two ways to the dealer...I figured my out of pocket expense to be better. Besides, the Optima is a much better unit than the OEM. I know this is an abnormal attitude, but it works for me.

We think alike! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I was about $45 out of pocket. Much easier than paying for a service call, which is what I would have needed since I have no way to get the tractor to the dealer. I suppose I could have driven to the dealer and picked up a replacement battery, but that would have been an hour trip.

My battery only ever got the 'cottage cheese' on the positive terminal before I replaced it. I don't think it ever leaked enough to send acidic stuff back through the radiator.

Thats exacly why I sprung for the better battery. I figured the time involved to clean, repaint and install was far less than draging it down to the dealer, probably leaving it and picking it up again was not worth it. Now I should be free of battery problems for a while, at least on the tractor. Counting the golf cart, three trucks and other small engines I have 12 more lead acid batteries to deal with. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I forgot my other two tractors and the race car. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Has anyone ever gotten their radiator replaced under warranty. Mine is not in good shape, lots of corrosion from the leaking battery. Warranty expires next week, have to get it in quick. Only 241 hours in almost 2 years.

Yes, plus all the other rusted parts. Plus I got a gel cell.

PS I have a TC40D. Serviced at 200 hour and 15 months.
