I currently have a 80" bucket on my Kioti RX6010. I frequently move piles of shale, stone, etc... I am looking to purchase a tooth bar since I know it helps penetrate the piles and also for digging. The tractor width spec is 68.1" so the bucket extends a good deal past the width of the tractor. I am thinking of selling the 80" bucket and purchasing a 72" bucket and installing a tooth bar on it. I think this will be a more optimum/universal bucket width for various types of applications I will be using it for. I don't really want to have two different buckets around, that is just more to store in my pole building. I think the 80" is a little much for a 60 HP tractor. Any input or thoughts on this is appreciated.

I have a 73" on my 45hp tractor, the back wheels are set to 72" outside. Works good for me, though for snow removal it would be handy to have an 80" to better keep the rear wheels out of the deep stuff. That may not be a concern for you though.

I recommend what you are planning. I use a 6' bucket on my 7520. It is a Buhler bucket with a 2 angle [vs flat] bottom. I recommend it for general work, and over the flat bottomed type esp, for digging.

A bit wider than your maximum wheel spread is ideal width. I would think 80" bucket on a 60HP tractor would only be good for snow/manure /saw dust and other light weight materials.

Ok. Sounds like I'm on the right track. Now what about toothbars? I know I will get a WR Long toothbar or a Pirahna Toothbar. I am not sure which one. Anyone dig into shale piles with a Pirahna toothbar? I previously had a WR Long toothbar on my first tractor so I know how it performs but I saw the Pirahna toothbar and thought it would be nice to have that style for clearing brush etc... I just don't know how well it would cut into shale or rocky soil.
