Optional lever on bx?

BotaB,

While both mods do mitigate the dreaded, publicly (& privately) embarassing BX24 reverse "Neck Snap" that many deny exists, though, those that knows knows, I still have on the shelf a cylinder ordered from Messicks (stock BX damper) for a future project to buffer the tail end of the reverse return travel - may not get to it for a while, but if it flys I will post some pics.

Time moves on though, and our snapped necks may simply become a faded memory as many upgrade to newer models.

Me, I'm married to the machine and TDDUP. . . . .

Dave

I love your mods achinbac. Can you tell us more about that? I like the way you did the hitch, did the thumb, painted certain things blue, and I wonder what the heck is that blue tube in the lower frame of BH ? The hitch looks well made and I like the way you modified it. It looks like its setup for easy on/off with a pin?

Yes...that upper control arm looking thingy piqued my interest as well...

Thanks RMan, the blue tube thing is the strut for the BH thumb and stores there along with BH hitch - each with one wing nut. Also made a bucket hitch with two stainless eyes for lifting - see pics. The BH hitch is kept in place with a 7/16 bolt that replaces the keeper bolt for the bucket pin. Also made an insert for the BH bucket that leaves a nice flat bottom & pics up a bit more.

Bota, am not sure what the "Control arm thing" is, but here are some pics of the brake fab, and HST lever linkage - pardon my crummy paint program . . . should have taken more pics as the bottom is now buttoned up with Richard's front & rear bash plates.

I love it. I am surprised I didnt see an earlier post in this? these are great ideas! I am surprised BXpanded didnt steal your ideas yet.

I really love the fabbed hitch and storage location. That sounds like something I really can use. Question is, how did you mange to bend that short of a thick peice of metal to fit contour of bucket?

Sorry for the confusion...not having a Wallenstein thumb, I didn't recognize the strut...

Brake/lever pics "worth 10,000 words." Great engineering!

ACHINBAC, you really need to market some of this stuff.

RMan, the backer plate on the hitch could have been made out of thinner plate, but 1/2" was the only scrap I could find on hand - red hot with a torch and beat the snot out of it on the anvil - lit the cardboard template on fire a couple times in the process. The original piece was left long til the bend was correct, and then cut to length.

Action - the time consuming one was getting the throw & direction of the HST lever to match the foot pedal travel. It all also had to happen within the confines of the floor pan ceiling, the skid plate top, and the rear fender ceiling. The linkage also had to be bind proof for obvious reasons - all pins are stainless riding in brass sleaves surrounded by brass and nylon washers - it was a probably a keg's worth of effort as I recall . . .

Triple - what I really need to do is get off to work to help pay for this Monster Garage addiction - couple for the road:

Well you caught me sleeping and I some how missed all of this :ashamed: I appreciate your very kind words about my work but I have to say that after seeing the mods you've done here on this thread I would consider your work second to none. Great reading, viewing and very nice workmanship.

The force is strong in this one it is...ACHINBAC you rock dude.

I just fell into this thread from the recent past, I won't rest till I have HST control while I am in the BH seat! ACHINBAC, have you put any thought into selling these? I'm a buyer, and I would gladly sign a liability release to get it. I think alls you need to do is sell this stuff labeled "FOR RACING USE ONLY, NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK" and I think your good to go, consult w/ your attorney.

( I am making a device for harleys and I plan on doing that )

RE: The HST Overide Device, so when your using the backhoe and the seat faces rearwards, you press the button and the tractor will roll forward or back right?

So it will not work unless you hit the button when standing on the ground as well ? Meaning the tractor will not roll unless the button is depressed in any seat configuration or wheather the driver is on or off the tractor?

The left brake pedal is cool too, not sure if I would spring for it because I like one side of the BX25 at least to be free of incumberences for loading my body on and off the machine. Hey, do you have a device to raise the steering wheel a tad? Am I the only one who's legs hit the bottom of the steering wheel getting out of the saddle?

Just yesterday I looked at that OE brake pedal quickly and though CUT IT AND LOWER IT, that might help as well. Ya gotta hit the brake before employing the HST to the opposite direction while rolling or whiplash!

Great work...Hey what is the wood deck for? Loading the icechest into the boat? (Or a keg? ) HA!
