You wouldn't think you'd have to bend so much stuff to put a metal bender together. :confused2:
The picket twister attachment came this week, so I figure I'll stick it on today and try it out.. not so fast.. the two tabs that pin it on to the main unit had to get squashed together about a quarter inch, 3 shots with a hammer on the vise, and then that was broken.. got a new vise from Lowes and finally got the stupid thing to line up, after a little grinding on the corners. The new vise closes crooked, that's back in the box heading for the return dept.. it's hard to measure the progress here.

You sure are having a run of bad luck with tools!:confused3:

Here is a picket twister I made out of an old Shop Smith that was given to me.

As long as it works out...
I went to H/D to look at the Irwin version of the vise and bought it before taking the other one back to Lowes. This one's perfect I think. And for $79. pretty cheap too.
I can imagine how they steal copies from copies over there, till they look the same, but one's crap, and another's just right. This one was all greased over and wrapped too, the Bessie from Lowes was shipped dry, screw felt rough.
Tomorrow I should be able to turn some perfectly good stock into scraps.

That's a heck of a weld on that socket there... 3/4" drive on the twister?

It's been so long now, if I remember correctly the only reason I used 3/4 drive is because I had several sockets that size. 3 or 4 maybe? Now a days I don't have much need for 3/4 drive, but every once in a while they come in handy!
