Congrats that's a top of the line tractor! Can get just about any kind of attachment you would need. Been dreaming about trading in my 2 Craftsman mowers on an X series. I'm green with envy! :D

Coobie,
Thats a short wait but well worth it, you will be happy with the x740 and diesel. I am amazed how little fuel mine uses, filled mine this evening and mower about 2 acres and it is still barely above the 3/4 mark. Congratulations and enjoy your new mower.

Congrats Coobie! That's a top-notch machine. I think JD has the lead in the non-ztr lawn tractors. The X500 and X700 series really have no competition from other brands.

I'm looking so I'm curious how you feel the Simplicity Prestige, and Legacy XL fall short. This is real curiousity, not disagreement. I know the X700 uses the same transaxle as the Legacy, but don't know much about other comparisons.

What scared me about simplicity products website was it seemed to be cutting back on some of there products they used have to offer.I think deere, kubota products will be here for a long time.

The biggest problem with Simplicity is lack of dealerships. In the Dallas/Fort Worth, Tx area there are none, zip, zero. You have to look 150-200 miles out to Ok, La, or south Tx to find dealers. On the other hand, we have 6 John Deere dealers within a 50 mile radius. The closest is 35 miles. These dealers also offer onsite service using a small shop in a box truck. Four year warranties are also top notch on Deeres. Plus, if I develop a good relationship with a Deere or Kubota dealership on my X500 or X700 series lawn tractor, I can upgrade to a CUT at the same location since they have a full line of tractors and equipment. As often discussed on TBN, having a local dealer can be a huge part of the decision. If you have good local dealership and are happy with the Simplicity, then I'd say it would be fine. However, I surely would recommend sitting in the seat and doing a test drive of both brands before making a decision.
