Well, I bit the bullet and ordered an Everlast PP50. Guess I'm eating cereal for a bit. LOL. Mark gave me a lot of tips while I was on the line with him. Gotta get a water trap and a line dryer.

Good thing your done. I'm still undecided on what to get between the Everlast 60, 70, 80 or Powermax 45. Been reading on reviews.... I need it to build my smoker or else I will be using the two additional grinders I just bought ... Lots of grinding if I can't decide soon :confused2:. Please post your reviews when you get it....

Got that trash can full of dry ice? :)

It's still there:
Compressed Air Dryer

I just have the tank, a large coalescing filter leaving the tank, and the small SMC clone coalescing filter that came with my plasma cutter.

My tank is a converted 100lb propane tank. I have the inlet concentric to the outlet through the top 3/4" NPT fitting. The inlet is 3/8" soft copper that extends in and is bent to discharge the pump air tangent to the wall about half way down. The intent is to separate the moisture instead of dispersing it in the tank.

Enjoy the torch!

Hope you have good luck with yours. I am waiting for my 4th PP60 to ship.:confused2:
First 3 worked a few days, then just quit.

Harbor freight still sells that air dryer..and ive owned that model for about 5-6 years now. Has worked flawlessly. Removes all the moisture .

I know cause i have a paper filter after the dryer, and i have never had to replace that membrane. its always 100% dry.

I need pure dry air for my cnc plasma cutter, otherwise the tips flake out pretty fast. And everyone knows its not the plasma cutters price you need to worry about.... its the consumables. I have a hypertherm 1000 and i know i have spent more on consumable tips, swirl rings, etc than i ever spent on the unit itself over the years.

Harbor freights use to sell a air dryer, but I think they discontinued them now.
You could build one like I did.

You should hook up a circulator pump, and make that thing double as your torch cooler..

Congrads on that PP 50 Haywire.

I have a Powermax 45. Hypertherm pretty much invented Plasma cutting and their customer service is second to none. I am always amazed at how much that thing can cut. It cuts 1/2" - 3/4" very clean and I have even used it to severe a 1" piece with no problems.

I have nothing against Everlast as I have never used thier product but I know Hypertherm rocks.

There's a video on you tube showing a cheapie cutter and the guy was cutting 3/8 steel and it couldn't do it. Although it was sold as being able to.

The guy took it back and got a hypertherm and cut through 3/8" as it was designed to do - BUT THEN the guy cut up to 3/4" just to see what it could do. Cut through like a hot knife through butter.

You never regret buying the best.

There's a video of the PP60 cutting 1" stuff. This is supposed to be rated for 3/4", although Mark said quality of cut drops off pretty fast past 5/8. Most of what I'll be cutting is 3/8 and under. After I get the hang of it, I'll post some pics of a 1/4 and 3/4 cut.

Oh good, I guess I should order one of those 600 hp Cadillacs now. :confused2:

Got the PP50 in tonight. Had some shipping damage, a small crack on the corner of the front bezel. I had a tracking number for the replacement part in about 3 hours. The air filter/dryer I ordered last week was an item weldingsupply didn't keep in stock, so they didn't order it from their supplier till I asked for one. I got shipping confirmation today. I expect it will be 5 days or so till I get that and then I'll have to get some fittings to hook it up. I'll have to look at this thing for a week or so before I get to try it out.

I love my P60. Each time I use it I'm amazed at just how easy it is. I recently cut some scrap 1 1/8" x 4" bar stock to make press plate for the shop press. My biggest problem is my hand is not stable enough. I usually clamp a straight edge for a guide.

Thanks Al,

From some peoples statements who've never owned one, you'd think that 3/8" would be a challenge for an 60 amp Everlast. Good to know our customers are getting the same results we are.

This is my herky jerky cut on a 3/4" bar. Getting a smooth cut is going to take some practice and a roller guide in place of the wire standoff. Every little twitch and hesitation is transferred to a ridge on the cut.
