Ordered my work lights- what about a tooth bar?

Based upon the knowledgeable advice of those on this board, I just ordered worklights for my new bx2230. Now, what are the benefits of a toothbar for the FEL? How difficult is it to install one? What can I expect to spend? Can it remove stumps? It will help with minor excavating, right? Just need a little advice. Thanks and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

I have a toothbar for the loader on my BX1500. It was lumped together with everything else when I purchased my tractor but I think it cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of $275.00. I have only used it for a couple of hours but it does help dig in hard soil and makes it a little easier to pull up stumps because you can hook the teeth underneath the roots and pop them loose. Of course it depends on the size of the stump you are trying to pull up. As others have said it also makes it a little easier to handle brush because the teeth act like little forks for lifting things.

I forgot to mention the install part. I think most toothbars are like mine in that they slide over the edge of the bucket and attach to the bucket with a large bolt and nut on each side. It will require that holes be drilled or cut with a torch on the sides of the bucket.

I used a cordless drill to install mine on a BX22.

What kind of lights did you go with?

Went with two Kubota lights to mount on each side of the ROPS. AMR set me onto the set up in another thread I started (New to forum- need some help). Lots of good ideas and a link to a lengthy thread about ROPS lights. Anyway , this is AMR's response and, hopefully, a link to his photo:
This is a photo of the Kubota lights, the dealer installed them for me for $120 (furnished and installed). They rotate front or back with a wrench. So far I love them. I mow, plow, and fertilize at night, not because I want to but that is when I get the time! I ordered my toothbar from markham, for my 72" bucket, it was around 280.00.... haven't recieved it yet but I think the install will be simple....

On my B7510 with 4' bucket I had to drill a 1/2" hole in each side of the bucket. It takes me about 5 minutes or less to install or remove.

Money well spent if you do any digging and very handy for cleaning up brush.

I have a Kubota 3410 with 72" FEL. I put the tooth bar on myself - had to drill two holes as I recall. Not a major problem. I would not be without the toothbar. If someone took it, I would order another immediately and be unhappy until it arrived. It makes many jobs easier and makes the FEL so much more versitile. For my range of uses, I simply leave it on.
