Try the sportsmans guide, they have just about anything under the sky in their catalog, ++ ammo.
Allthough a show is always the cheapest way to buy it.

( Thats why I learned to make my own ammo....thats even cheaper and I can do about 200rnds an hour. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

I used to reload many many years ago, but no longer have the press. I found it tedious back then as a young man; maybe I have more patience now. Maybe I can teach #3 son to do it and convince him it's fun. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

As far as I know it is legal to ship ammo to Texas. They did have to use UPS and categorize it as "hazardous", but it wasnt' that expensive considering the weight.

Also, this vendor (Outdoor Marksman) shipped it "Adult Signature Required" which means they have to witness the signature. I had to go to the UPS center and get it because I would have never been home when they would deliver it. Lucky for me, the UPS center is just a couple miles from where I work.

I bought 1,000 rounds of Wolf 7.62x39 for $90. It is not the cheapest I could find (it was close), but it was the cheapest I could find from a vendor I felt comfortable doing business with. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I also picked up some .22mag rounds cheaper than I could get them at WallyWorld.

Thanks for the vendors names Ernie and Billy, I will check them out. I don't live close to a UPS facility at all. My wife is home during the day, but they either leave it by the gate or drop it over the fence/gate when no signature is required.

Cheaperthandirt.com is still in business. I get one of their catalogs monthly. There are plenty of places that have a net presence where you can get discounted ammo. Just do some searches.

I have bought many, many things over the Internet and have to say my experience has been at least as good as buying at brick and mortar storefronts.

As to identity theft, I'm not particularly concerned about it. First, I believe the security online is pretty good. Second, I don't anticipate doing any borrowing ever again so, in the worst case scenario, I won't be able to do what I don't want to do, anyhow.

Henro,
I have made my living off of Internet and communications technology for many years. I used the internet before they called it that /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif However I buy very little off the internet. You cannot inspect the merchandise properly, and quite often you do not know if it is a garage type of operation or an established operation. Also some sellers are actually resellers with no stock, and a few are pure scams.

About all I buy over the net are tractor parts that I cannot find locally.

Maybe part of my reluctance to buy over the net is that I like to support local businesses. If we don't then the net might be about all we will have in 10 yrs or so.
