I just purchased a used yanmar tractor, not familiar with them yet but very satisfied with mine .
all the pictures i have seen so far have been red,
my tractor is GREEN and it has all the decals and serial plates and i can not find any indication of painting... I was curios as to what is the original color? the tractor is a YM1700
thanks.

Does it look like this?

That was first-series YM1700 (and YM2000), about 1970 to 1975.

When they put the headlights into the grill was when they started painting them red.( '75 - 79).

On YM1500 the difference between first series and second series is significant when you go to order parts, but I don't think it is for YM1700/YM2000.

Here's a 2004 thread discussing them:
Green Yanmar

As I could have said more clearly in that thread, the US versions of those tractors continued green for second series, and there are pictures of both US series in the brochure referenced in my sig photo link.

If your tractor is still green after 30 years that means it hasn't had a bogus 'reconditioning' to make it look like a later model. That's good.

Welcome to the family of Yanmar owners!
