I'm thinking about a 3PH mounted log splitter. I see a number of members are running these off of remotes. Seems you'd have to tie the remote valve off to supply the splitter valve, as running the splitter from the factory remote valve is no option on mine. It's inside the fender.

I have a L3130 with a BH. Can I use those lines to run the splitter? I'm assuming I need an open center valve? Wonder if they are available with return detents as any splitter should have? This may have been covered before, just can find it.

Any others using BH hydraulics to run attachments?

Chris,
I run my splitter off the Backhoe hydraulic feeds on a B21. Works fine and has for years. I use longer hoses so my splitter stays mounted on a stand and the tractor gets pulled up and plugged in with the quick connects. The stand lets the splitter sit at a nice working height and I can still use the tractor to move wood around with the FEL and a carry all.

Mark,

Thanks! That setup sounds like a good one. I was fairly certain the BH lines should work, just needed a second opinion. It would be a quicker, simpler connect and disconnect too, as I won't have to tie off the remote valve lever too. Nor would I necessarily have to hook-up the 3PH, as in your case. Convenient for those who generally split at one location. I'm guessing yours a 3PH version with the stand?

Much appreciated as I didn't get many takers on this one so far.

Chris, Yes I normally split in the same location all the time and my 3pt splitter sits on a stand all the time. The stand is nothing more than a wood shipping crate that sets the splitter about 3’ off the ground. For me it is easier on the back to work at that level than the level the splitter sets when mounted on the tractor.

I realize not quite the same hookup or equipment.. but a question... I have a New Holland TC29 tractor, 29 hp, 7308 FEL, do you think a TSC 3 point log splitter would run fine off the FEL lines, have quick disconnect there.. thinking of leaving the log splitter mounted next to the barn and pull up the tractor alongside to power it. Would have to bunge the loader control open. Also, a more inventive question... if I were to have a splitter built, cylinder but no control valve.. hooked up like above to the FEL connects.. would the lever valve on the FEL then operate the log splitter ram? Any opinions appreciated....
