did you hear anything on your tractor yet? Did they tell you when they are bringing it home?

Mopar, Would like to know what the noise in rear was. Reason being the 4000 series had a problem with the rears when used under hard,heavy loads. They,JD, would fix as failed. I would hope it was corrected in the 4-10 series, but I have seen other items coming up that you would have thought would have been corrected! Also differental locks may have been problem. Those probably caused by op.

they thought the unit would be here today,but got a call yesterday and it won't be here till sometime next week.they found it was not fixed,glad they are running alot of test.

Mopar, Would like to know what the noise in rear was as of right now they feel it was the clutch plates shifting back and forth due to lack of pressure,nothing in the rear end itself,they found an electric connection a little loose from the factory that controls the pressure,they replaced the clutch plates as a precaution and will be load testing on the dyno and doing other pressure checks.

Replacing clutch plates? This is where I would be asking about getting another new 4310 without any problems. You might bring it up.

I agree with RaT. I'd be down there smokin the dealer. I'd demand a NEW tractor or my hard earned money back. There is something Really wrong with the unit. Having to split a new unit tells me that somebody on the assembly line didn't do their job. I guess the folks in Horicon Wisconsin get bored in the winter. Really embarrass him and tell the dealer you are going to go get a Kubota. Do it in front of other customers too. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

new update on the tractor/found trans has internal leak/pto's work fine when just sitting but when hydro pedal pushed lightly the pressure would drop to almost nothing,thus the clutch plates would slip,if you went beyond and pushed harder the pressure would increase again,dealer has a whole new trans coming for it,no parts or piece meal,they want the problem taken care of.i'm not asking for a new tractor,yet,i'm hoping this is where my choice of dealer will pay dividens and the problem and any future problems will be taken care of to my satisfaction

Basically, a hydrostatic transmission is just like the torqueflite in your Mopar with the exception that there is no valve body as you select the speed range manually. There is a drive rotor and a driven rotor (torque converter) and the fluid is controlled by what they call a swashplate. There are the necessary passages and seals and what have you to permit the flow of oil (fluid) through the body and an oil cooler (just like your torqueflite) to keep it cool. This brings me to a point and that is, John Deere, like any other tractor manufacturer has quality checks and balances throughout their assembly process. It is pretty obvious that somewhere during that process, something was not applied to the tractor that should have been or someone did not do their job properly. It would be my contention that the tractor as a whole should be returned to the point of origin for evaluation and that you should be given a new unit to replace it. I'm not you or your dealer and I don't know all the circumstances surrounding your purchase, however, I would insist on a new unit as a replacement. You might consider consulting the Better Business Bureau in your locale, discussing the unit with the local field representative for John Deere or talking to your attorney. It has been my experience in dealing with John Deere on larger agricultural equipment that they will stand behind their products as they have built their reputation on quality and customer satisfaction.

Mopar, Kind of have the same feelings as you about replacing tractor. Would consider asking for extention on warranty though. I went over warranty by a year, because of an accident(personal),they replaced MMM brackets but won't do anything about the front axle scuffing, yet they had a program for this, and admit there was a problem. I disagree with thread that big co.'s do things for their rep., they do it for bottom line. Go to JD site and read CEO's statement! Talks about stockholders value, where is our value on investment when we can't get our equipment repaired,that they designed wrong, but dealers don't want to take it in trade because they know there is a problem.
