I Love that state. I have built a couple of houses in the "matsu" valley and a cabin out from Talkeetna.
My first trip there was a family vacation in 1956 in a new Olds 98. Back then the alcan was barely improved.
This thread caused me to get out the pictures and look at them again.
I have a banner I bought in 1956 about the Alcan

The Second driving trip in 1965 saw much improvement from 1956.
I have had some great times there in all seasons through the years.
