First of all I'm not a moderator here. My answer wasn't directed at you. It was directed at the scum that did this. Sorry you took it personally. I don't know you well enough to say anything good or bad towards you. If you mean am I bias toward Wingnut then yea I am. We don't always agree but he's a good guy, I respect his opinion, and I consider him a friend.

I accept your apology.../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thank you.....

... as a matter of fact, she worked for the company in a non-union position and had no choice about crossing the picket line ... she had a jon and she had a family to feed.
It's called crossing an illegal picket line (there was an injunction preventing the strikers from interferring with legal traffic).
Of course, laws are not for picketers, are they. I think the only people that are more criminal than the scum that frequent picket lines solely to enjoy annoying or hurting others ... are the scum that sign the no-prosecution clauses on the contracts (gee, that would be management types, right?)

I didn't say anything about being in favor of inspectors, did I, Chuck? I stated it as a fact of what happens today. Inspectors exist and get in our faces whether I am in favor of them or not. Protect workers? hahahahahaha. Inspectors are all about fines ... not protecting workers. Taxes are taxes ... some of them are just hidden methods of getting money ... called fines.

Yes, companies have been known to be less than fair to their workers. Unions have been known to be less than fair to the public. Wives have been known to be less than fair to their husbands. PETA goofs have been known to be less than polite to little old ladies wearing fur coats. So??? Saying lifes unfair doesn't make it right to have excessive union demands.
By the way ... wokers have been known to be less than fair to their employers too. The stats I see say that most shoplifting and theft is internal. Is that ok ... since the companies are less than fair to the workers?

So my only recourse is actually very, very simple and easy. I NEVER buy products that state "union made". In other words, I vote with my wallet.

I guess I just don't find it all as cut and dried as you apparently do. Putting words in my mouth and between my lines doesn't make it so. I'm a world class compromiser ... but that doesn't stop me from having (and working towards) beliefs.

Thanks Chuck......for being rational....and realistic...

bwahahahahaahahahahaha

I'm sorry, I just couldn't help that ... and it was NOT intended as a personal attack on either yourself or Chuck. I just think it hilarious that someone who agrees with your beliefs is rational and realistic ... meaning the rest of us obviously are not.
For awhile I thought this was a debate ... but I see that it's actually another religious war and I will bow out .... I don't want to offend our host again ... and religious wars solve nothing.

For the record, I had been thinking that left wingers were just misguided and could be talked to .... but after watching the news for the past month (an unusual occurance for me, but I was on "holidays" and resting after an exceptionally tiring year) ... I have come to the conclusion that I'm wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong and I freely admit it. I think that leftwingers are not misguided at all ... they're just plain evil people who will not be reasoned with. They will be happy with nothing less than the death of this wonderful country.

This post is directed at no one in particular...wingnut was the last in the line and so I replied at his post...

Life is unpredictable…

Some of us make out, while others lose.

All is not fair. The good do not always win out.

A few die early, a few make it to be over a hundred years old and are productive and happy the whole way.

Some reap many rewards when less deserving suffer.

Union Janitors DO make more money sometimes than harder working people in other places…

Most doctors may work VERY hard. Others may work less...

Some PHD's really are not too smart; some high school drop outs know a lot about life.

There is a Toaist expression:

He who speaks does not know; He who knows does not speak.

So I have proved what my words are worth, I guess/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Surprised it took me so long to do that!

Now I should ask…what percentage of this thread is related to tractors?

There…at least my 5th to the last sentence is! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Should I even bother to post this?

NO, I GUESS NOT.

But I did anyway...

I am on the left because I have a different view about labor than you......hmmmm, I always considered myself on the right...but I believe in a worker rights(within reason)I hunt/I own a gun I support our commander in chief /I am registered republician....but you say I am from the left...I believe prayer should be brought back to the schools....but I am not even 100% pro-union (just on certain things) I questioned what you said about a janitor making $100,000 grand a year...(I do not drive a Subaru,I prefer Chevy or Ford) I own a John Deere and you are placing the blame on me for the countrys problems....you are from Canada...lets see your green card, are you an illegal immigrant....you cross the border illegally?....LOL .chill........I killed 8 deer this year...and every bit of them go in the freezer....(I am from the left Peta ????Ha Ha Ha)I have a farm and raise cattle and I have paid a lot more taxes than you in this country.....so as Archie Bunker would say :pfffffffffffffttt

Evening Bill,

I've been waiting for your input. And I wasn't about to get that darn Taoist thingy aimed in my direction again!!!!/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

You know life is funny, sorta like my chickens, one of them, the one called Crow, cause she'll just come up and caw, caw, caw for no reason but to hear herself I thought, got chicken hawked this morning. What a shame. But that's the way things go in a world that has chicken hawks and chickens.

Back to the chickens, Scrapper is my big red rooster. He's a toot. I can give him a treat and nine times out of ten he'll do a little dance and do a call and the hens will come a running. They love minature mashmellows. I'll hold one out and he'll take it out of my hand. He'll hold it in his beak until a hen takes out. Then he'll reach for another one.

If I grab a hen and she cries out he's right there on the spot wanting to know what's going on and why. Like I said, he's a hoot. The perfect male when you have a flock.

There's another rooster too. He gets his loving if you want to call it that from the hens just like Scrapper does. But he don't share and he doesn't protect. Two roosters from the same container at TSC last winter as chicks and they are as different as night and day.

The same with the hens, each one is an individual with their own quirky personalities.

Now what makes us thinks human are different?

On this discussion I'm about ten degrees as in belts in martial arts to the left of putty and chuck and sawdust.

It's hard for me who has always been blessed with good fortune to judge those who weren't as if I have what I've got came solely out of my own efforts. When I was at the telco I belonged to the union and was an outcast because I operated in a manner that tended to make others appear to be doing less than their best. I finally figured out that for me the work was fun and competing against myself natural. And for others it wasn't all that easy or interesting. So for them to put in a day just getting by was actually harder on them than my most productive day was on me. Our character had about as much to do it with as our character had on it raining or not that month.

Again, I was lucky. I was able to understand that I didn't fit and the thing to do was to try and find a place I do. I haven't got there yet. But I am enjoying the journey more for itself than where it sometimes takes me.

BTW sometimes I look around and feel not so lucky because of my good fortune. Invariably one of those guys who felt so threatened by me in the old days will tell me how lucky I was to find an out that worked.

Yes, I'm pro union to the max. The biggest reason it doesn't work all the time is not the workers. It's the management. And yes, I'm a small business man alive and well.

OUCH, that hurts !!! Have you been talking to my wife? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Ooops, you must be talking about those other Ph.D.'s /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Life is unpredictable…

So are you saying there are no absolutes? Wait a minute, I remember that thread; it's been banned. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

what percentage of this thread is related to tractors?

Oh yeah...I am dependent upon my tractor to clear the snow from my driveway. Without it, my wife would be out there for hours with her shovel. Okay, I would be out there with a shovel, and she would make believe that she is doing something important in the house. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
