Don't quite understand not using full rpms. Just feather the controls when you need to finness the bucket.

Generally speaking smaller back hoe units move much quicker than their big brothers.

On my little guy 1,200 to 1,300 works out just fine. Big guys use brute force, in my case it is more of finesse.

On top of that, less noise and less fuel.

Great photo! Congrats on the new tractor and hoe. I have a similar setup (3120 with 447 backhoe) and have removed over 20 stumps up to 16" in diameter. So much fun I started pulling stumps for neighbors! LOL. Got paid a little, too.

Like most, I found out the hard way that low RPM's work better. Same power, just slower movement. The little hoe can cut through up to 4" roots if you get the curl right on the the bucket. Once you learn how, you can take out average 15" stumps in an hour or less. What a tool!

I always hated cherry picker operators who crammed the throttle to the floor everytime they moved the cable even if it was just to pick up a small item. They claimed they got better control (BS is what I say) just lots of noise and waste of fuel and damage to the engine when you are not looking for speed no need to run 3K rpm when idle will do.

Stump 2 has been safely removed. I find that like the controls on the tower truck at the fire department, moving over and down controls at the same time slows the action of both motions.

Oh yes! I've dug out 1 stump in my life many years ago. NEVER AGAIN!
