The difference in person sure is something - His bucket must do in one load what mine might do in 3. The truth is though that he messes up the landscape so much moving it around that in many ways I prefer mine for this type of work. His must be made for larger work sites altogether.

Doesn't Komatsu still build backhoes? I thought sure it was the Kobelco line they had. On some of the earlier Fermecs, I could have swore that they were using the same model numbers as the Kobelcos used to use. I think they even looked similar, but then again what do I know. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Sorry about "hijacking" the thread. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Now, back to the subject. Have you learned yet if the tire is salvageable?

Hey All - You won't believe this. Sometimes you just get lucky. I brought the tire down and as we were walking in I noticed the tire stem... noticed it wasn't there. I was inspecting the tire itself so carefully looking for a hole that I neglected to look at the rim more closely. I feel like a putz for not noticing that, but thats how my mind works anyway - tire leaked - I thought there must be a hole in it. I guess I caught the valve stem on something... don't know what, and it snapped it at the brass fitting.

So thats it - $1.75 for parts and fill it up. I really dodged a bullet this time! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's certainly good news. I lost a valve stem on a tubeless front tire once moving brush piles, and that's an easy fix.

You sure did! That's great to hear that it wasn't anything more serious. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Brush Piles - Exactly what I was doing that morning... I must have caught it on something around there. I went outside to find the stray stem... not to be found yet - I thought I'd mount it on the wall as a reminder these things are not invincible.

Hijack away... I enjoy all the reading. Ron says his Fermec is an English brand. I'd never heard of them before his, but then again, I work in computer networking so with the exception of this forum I don't get a ton of exposure to construction equipment.

The first time I heard of Fermec was a couple years ago. The Fermecs and Terexs are the same thing. As Larry said, they were acquired by Terex. The Terex machines are basically the same thing other than they are white and with a different decal. I don't know if they are still white as I haven't checked up on the brand in a while.
