I'm just wondering, does everyone just take it for granted that their gas gauge on a JD isn't going to work correctly. I have a 4310 with 60 hours and I did own an 855 and the gauge didn't work right on either. Although I wouldn't buy any other color I just wonder if others are having this problem.

I was dragging the arena yesterday and sure enough I ran out of gas thinking I still had about a 1/2 tank. I know it is under warranty but I feel funny having my dealer drive out to pick my tractor up just for a gas gauge.

The gauge on my 4010 works fine.

Isn't the 4310 self-venting? My 4010 is supposedly to be. You don't have to go through the air venting like you had to do on older diesels. Still, after they get a bit of air in them, they'll crank a while before they start. Had an air leak in one of the fuel inlet lines on my old Benz. About the only time diesels won't start instantly (after glow-plugging when cold).

Good morning

I have a 4310 also and the fuel gauge has always been unpredictable. I also didn't want to go through the bother of something that minor with the dealer.

Because the filler spout is easily accessible, I usually just take a peek to see how much fuel is left. I also make sure that I start the day with a full tank and I never have to worry about it until the next morning.

My fuel gage reads empty when it is empty. But it does take forever to show 1/2 empty and then the last 1/2 goes fast.

My 2210 guage seems pretty accurate. I usually try to run it down to fumes. With the five gallon cans, it's easier to empty it as much as possible.

I hope you are not putting GAS in your 4310. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Using the wrong terminology can get you in trouble when someone else does put gas in your tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Ask your dealer to repair your fuel gage under warranty. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I forgot. My JD mower and Kubota tractor fuel gages work very well. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
