I'm surprised that you needed the Ruger to "finish the job

Well she was running at the time the bullet met her in the side, so I drove down the field & behold she was still kicking, so I dusted her with the 10-22 . Put a wire around her,and she was on tree a few minutes later.

The coyotes are so bad in this area that they've put a $75 bounty per head on them.

75$?!!! Time to bait, trap, call, and otherwise hunt them down. Wow, I haven't heard of a bounty in quite some time. They used to have them for crows.

Its kind of funny, shooting a coyote isnt as easy as it sounds. I have had a chance to shoot 2 in my time in Georgia, we didnt have them in South Fla. The first time was about 100yds, confident in my rifle, I tried a neck shot. He was standing still but apparently they are mostly fur. All I saw was a blast of fur and him running away. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Bad shot maybe, but they are alot thinner than they look. The second was'nt even a chance. By the time I raised my rifle, he sensed me and was gone. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The gun shop down the street from me took a rolling block 45-70 in on trade. His price was $800. The gun was immaculate, I just couldnt part with the cash, though It would be a nice addition to the collection.

I am not surprised that a 168gr boat tail hollow point didn't "finish" the job...it isn't a hunting bullet.

A scoped .22-250 is the best iron for coyotes, although I have shot quite a few with my Winchester .22Mag lever action with a Leopold 4X-10X scope. A 9mm is fine for close ups.

Of course, the last one I shot was during the day with my .270, but that was before the bounty. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif You can hear them howling at night.

Didn't used to have coyotes here in the East.
They were all out West.

You guys out there need to put a fence around them to keep them out of here! L O L
