Turning an LEDon and off isn’t going to shorten its life span. I can’t speak to power supplies that may or may not being well designed, or even built with in specification parts.

At some point, you do get what pay for…

All the best,

Peter

I bought from Amazon (waiting for delivery.. 2 self contained (solar panel equipped), dusk to dawn lights for the barn with no electricity going to it for over the doors at each end. Will see how they hold up but for 55 bucks each, they won't break my bank.

Boss bought one for the medical waste pen enclosure.

It works well through the night every night for the last 14 months and counting except for those once in 6 month days when clouds/rain obscure the sun.. yes one day in 6 months and the light did not go on that night.

Next day full September sun and light back on duty.

It also has a low light auto setting and goes to max light when motion sensed...

How these are actually and as the power is used up they cycle down in intensity as well or at least that is what is claimed.

Will see. For 55 bucks, I'm not going bankrupt.

It is kind of amazing what's out there delivered to your door these days...

It also came with a remote but never used it...

All the walks around the hospital used 100W Mercury Vapor… last a longtime but not cheap.

I re-wired the heavy cast aluminum fixtures for straight CREE 60W Edison Base bulbs… have yet to change one and a simple solutions which saves money everyday…
My neighbor 1/4 mile away has one of those or maybe sodium? It has been working very well for many years on a timer. 15 seconds on and 60 seconds off. 🤬 I sure wish it would burn out. My .22 would assist if I thought I wouldn’t get caught. 🙂

That sounds like a bad ballast or photoelectric controller and an owner who can no longer climb up to repair it. An opportunity to help fix it? :)

All the best,

Peter
