Exactly the point I was trying to make in posting the original topic.

Yea but that 12mm sure comes in handy when you need to drive it onto the head of an old rusty 1/2" bolthead with a hammer.

Kinda like an old wrecker driver said to me a while back after 3 unsucessful attempts to pull out a stuck tractor. He then payed out all his cable and hooked all his chains together and just barely had enough to wrap around a big ole oak tree at the edge of the field and tie to the wrecker front hooks.
He turned and looked back at me and grinned, 3 teeth missing in the front, spit some chewing tobacco on the ground, pointed back at the tractor, and said "Now it's gonna come or bleed".

I could actually picture that! What a great laugh. Thanks. G

I wonder if the Gasoline companies are going to convert the pumps over to Metric

I seem to remember them doing this in the late 70's, I was working at an Amoco station. It didn't last very long.

10 mm and 3/4" are the same, or real close. I used to own a Snap-On impact socket that was marked 19mm/ 3/4. I think there is a slight interference, nothing you shouldn't be able to solve with a little percussive adjustment. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks....... the next time I have the car on a lift, I will give it a try. I am afraid of snapping it off because it isn't in a place that will be easy to remove the broken piece. If it snaps off, it means taking the upper and lower control arms off and removing the spindle. More work than I really want to do. The last time I broke one of these bolts off, it took me a week just to get up the ambition to work on it again. The problem is that it was assembled at the factory with locktite. I would put heat on the head of the bolt, but there are too many sensitive ABS wires in the way. I am thinking of purchasing one of the fire retardant blankets to cover the wires before I tackle this job again. What I find hard to understand is why one will come out with little effort and the other one just doesn't want to budge. My other thought was to hit the head of the bolt with a zap of the welder, but then I worry about knocking out the computer. I hate modern cars!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

You could try aluminum foil to cover the wires. Also, if you disconnect the battery, I believe that your computer will be safe. G

( Last night, I noticed the store brands (at least at Giant Eagle and IGA) are still one half gallon. All of the name brands are 1.75 quarts.

I'm sure the store brands will follow the name brands lead in the near future. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif )

Well, six months later, I noticed that Giant Eagle brand ice cream is no longer one half gallon... It's now 1.75 quarts, just like the name brands.

I think that's funny, because six months ago, they were advertising that they were still one half gallon. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

How soon before a gallon of milk gets changed to a 3.5 quart container? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Every time I open a can of tuna I get aggravated about this. You can't even get two sandwiches out of a can now. And since they have all done it.... you can't even vote with your feet.

I don't know if this has anything to do with package sizing or not. But it is about Ice Cream.
Last week wife got me to stop a new store that opened. Its Cold Stone Creamery.
It was good but 2 servings came to just shy of $9.00. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Something I stumbled into and thought I'd share ....has to do with the 33 gallon trash bags mentioned earlier in this thread.
Did you know they make 55 gallon trash bags? I didn't, but I got them for a special occasion (outside wedding clean up). That was 2 1/2 years ago. I still hunt them down and buy them. I can get much more in these bags and do not use near as many 33 gallon ones. 2nd advantage is that they really fit a 55 gallon size trash can very nicely. They can be hard to find, but they are worth hunting for. Sam's club has them and Walmart in the auto / construction - contractor supplies.
