How goes the battle? Did you find the problem?

Haven’t tried yet, been in and out of the hospital but did get my first stump pulled. It took a while and learning how to use the four lever backhoe. It’s fun ,interesting ,slow. We’ll dig into that next week. My wife has a lot more important things that she needs me to do. I don’t know what’s more important than playing on a tractor. I’m gonna need to get my main boom cylinder rebuilt, I believe, it bleeds down pretty fast. I have to keep it chained up.

Well, good luck getting to the 'important ' things.

It's been a long time since I looked at or worked on the older backhoe controls. But at that time many of the hoes used a pilot operated check valve to "lock" the out rigger in place till it was deliberately moved using the hydraulics.

Ok, your outrigger controls are like on m Ford 3550. The handles are the two outer ends. One pivot shaft goes through all the bell cranks.
I believe your two outer outrigger belcrank bushings are stiff or stuck to the shaft from sitting. When you try to move one side the other outrigger handle moves also.

Each outrigger cylinder has its own dual acting spool valve on opposite sides. They are stuck to the shaft..
Grab both handles and push them in opposite directions several times to try and work them loose. Oil, oil, oil!

Read the paragraphs below and consider working the controls on yours over if they are worn.
It takes all the fun out of using your backhoe if the control handles are loose.
How can you pick up a dime without good control.

Some bronze bushings, some drilling and some steel rods.
You won't regret it.

I had to burn the bolts off to get the cover off of mine. The upper and lower shafts on mine and linkage rods are badly worn. You can see never oiled. You can't get to it without removing the cover. The nuts are hard to get to hold.
I am going to drill all the pivots one size over and install brass bushings and replace the shafts and remake all the linkage rods.
My control handles have an inch or two of slop. I have got use to using it like that, but it agitates the hell out of me.
You can't make these machines new but this needs to get fixed on mine.
