The little window on my tractor that lets me know level in the transmission rear end doesn't seem to register I don't know why and so I filled it until it came out the vent to at the top. How dangerous is it if I don't get enough oil out what can I damage. This is on my Massey Ferguson model 1533 4 WD 2006 Thanks for any help...new to this

You don’t want to run with it overfilled. Two options: messy - pull the drain plug and drain little by little until it’s at the correct level. Or less messy - get a fluid extractor and remove fluid from the fill plug until you are at the correct level.

My tractor has a dip stick attached to the transmission fill plug. Even with this - I was able to overfill the tranny. Floor of my tractor carport isn't as level as I thought.

Out on the driveway - level showed the tractor was level- dead nuts on. The dipstick showed a slight overfill. I have a rosebud gun and used it to suck out the overfill. No harm - no foul.

BTW - owners manual says check tranny fluid level with FEL and 3-point in the down position.

Oil expands as it heats up so it will try to force excess oil of the transaxle reservoir assembly and also creates extra splash heat from all the gears being submerged. Slightly overfull will rarely hurt anything but that full is potentially asking for trouble.

If you are on hilly property a little over full helps prevent pumps starving while operating with tractor on a slope.

Those are all good answers but to help prevent over filling in the future try adding John Deere transmission fluid dye to the oil. It makes it a snap to see it in your sight window.

I have been 3 gallons low (hose came off the cooler) tractor drove fine back to the barn and I have heard the max is 3 gallons over fill (spilling out the top) for my tractor. My "normal" fill is 7.5 gallons...

It's just a tank to hold oil, I run about 1 gallon over (8.5 gallons) and I also use John Deere hydraulic dye. John Deere Hydraulic Oil Dye - MT3668

It's red dye and next time I use it, I will use 1/4 of the bottle. I used 1/2 and it's very red!!!

Drain a few and get some dye...
