Btw around these parts a new Bota SVL75 ctl / tracked ac , don't remember if its 'high flow ' ? Is going for alittle over 62K . Kubota and Cat in that order control the regional ctl market down here . I always liked the not to known compared to the frontrunners in the market . IHI ctl and smaller excavators . As most of us know IHI is now construction yellow and name 'Kato ' ........ good no-sense no frills equipment imo .........That was a good decision.
I bought one last year. You might want to tell him to seal the outer cab hvac filter housing with foam tape. Its a joke and the hard rubber gasket on the filter does not seal. Kubota actually sells foam tape that goes around the housing, its got a part number and its on their parts diagram but does not come on them from factory. Its amazing how much dust gets around that filter without the foam tape, and then its no wonder there are so many threads with people complaining that their svl evaporators are clogged. I just used regular half inch wide foam tape but did order the foam from kubota. I can look up the part number if interested. In the end when the smoke cleared my son just traded in the SS for a new Bota SVL 75 ' track machine ' .

The tracked machine we got rides like crap, I prefer the old LS170 open cab over the new 327 with cabOP, check out YouTube. There are a lot of videos on the subject from contractors that have ran them for years/decades.
If a wheeled machine is "useless", then you bought the wrong machine for the job. Tracks have their place, but they come with many downsides. I'm with Sonny580...I would never consider a tracked machine. Purchase price is higher, tracks are expensive, bogeys & sprockets to wear out, and what do you do if you pop a track off in the middle of the woods by yourself? I prefer a tire machine for where I live, in the woods. Tree stumps, rocks, branches, off-camber hills....all will throw a track if you give it the chance.
CAT offers a skid steer model with real steel tracks, like a dozer. That would be the only compromise I'd live with...however I believe the price is astronomical.
