The 3 that I found locally can be bought for $375 each on the 2, 8 ft EZ Flows and $595 on the John Deere. Ken Sweet

I just purchased a 10 ft Ezee Flow fixer upper. i plan on cutting it to 6 feet so it will fit into my fields better and cross bridges better. I have started applying Penetrating oil on the bolts, the wheels turn, the agitators turn but there is a lot of sheet metal rust. I also noticed that the shafts have a lot of play in the center bushing for the shafts.

I have some questions:
1. i am planning on doing away with the hopper assembly and making one that is taller so it will hold more material. Any comments on this idea?

2. i will shorten it down to 6 feet which end of the agitator shaft should be cut down? or does it make any difference.

3. one of the wheel/agitiator engagement mechanisms on the wheel has been welded and rigged. it still works, but does anyone know where i can get another one?

4. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, this is my first post and i a looking forward to learning a lot and maybe one day contributing something to the forum.

I have converted one to six foot like you are planning. Here is the end result. You will need to remove material from the center of the agitator shafts. I have included a pic that shows what is removed, and a pic that shows where I cut (2) two-foot sections from the hopper. Look it over carefully....it all lines up and is quite easy....IF you cut in the proper locations. All material removed is exactly 24".
