Oversized tractor hp for pto chipper

Here are the specs for the 15" pto Morbark Beever M12R & M15R PTO - Sacramento CA Lift Truck Catepillar Dealership It says 100 - 150 hp needed but I've been told by my dealer that putting up to 180 hp is ok, and the tougher type of palm trees I intend to chip will be faster, and the auto feed mechanism will need to kick in a bit less. I seen a used "good condition" 1995 Massey ferguson 178 hp going for a good deal. Any thoughts on this combo and do you think a near 20 yr old brand name tractor can still hold up?

I do like my MF's but they have their monkey models like every one else . What model is it ..?? Late 3000 series with sisu engine or 8000 series ?

It's a 1993 MS 3690 with 6020 hours. Going for <$15k. Worth a consideration?

I cant remember 16 speeds or dynashifts giving us any trouble , Sisu engine is one of the best so is the cab , Some of our earlier 3000's had big problems with 32 speed trans and 3pt electrics . I like them but for your job i'd want something less complicated with manual controls / cheaper to run and repair ....Ford TW35 springs to mind .
