I am thinking about building a backyard bread/pizza owen. Something like this:

MHA News - 2000 MHA Meeting at Wildacres

or this:

MHA News - 2005 Meeting - Commercial Pizza Oven Workshop with Pat Manley

Now the best of all wifes:D - she wants a grill to be part of it and her long time wish is rotisserie spit - I quess I need to comply, there is no way around but anyway, I started to think and plan:

1. Did you build a spit or do you know a good/nice design
2. The spit motor, I think most of them are electrical, but I will not run there electricity right away - I was thinking using a tank of compressed air and pneumatic motor - is it completely dumb idea?
3. It should be universal, i.e. either one or two or three chickens on one spit or a grill for burgers and sausages and meat. Would be great to be able to do chicken and hot dogs in the same time - kids typically prefer hot dogs.
4. Normally I use wood for grilling, we have plenty of oak and maple - but should I build it for charcoal since it gives more heat. Best would be to be able to use both wood or/and charcoal.
5. I have some bricks and cinder blocks, but I want to use virginia blue stone since it is much nicer than any brick could ever be. To make it last I am thinking using fire bricks at least on the inside and using the stone for the less heat exposed parts. Is it an overkill for the grill? I will have to use firebricks for the owen for sure.

Any pictures, ideas and experience would be greatly appreciated.
