Do they do a good job keeping the rodent population at bay? LOL

Big impact on mice. Mouse carcass remains were everywhere last year.
This year it's doves and I have seen 5 separate piles of feathers that I believe to be owl attacks. They must not even hear the owl coming.

We erect perches for owls near newly planted trees to decimate population of rabbits. The owls are quite large. I am guessing they are about 12 to 16 inches tall while sitting on the perch. When we got new puppy few months back we had to stay with it when outside to pee so the owls wouldn't take it. We have also few smaller owls on back 40.

Saw a segment of this on tv a few years ago and never forgot it,

Now visualize the eye in the photo from the first post from about 20 inches away. Oh. and you weren't expecting it to be there. Instant pucker.

PUCKER! I had posted earlier that I had one land in a treestand right next to me and we had a stare down! You want to talk about a pucker. If I had a piece of coal in my bung hole it would have been a diamond by the time he left. And he came back!!!! Double Pucker!!!!! Great experience tho!

The owls have had new "babies" in the courtyard at my work again. They are as big as a very large rabbit now, and covered in a mix of downy feathers and their first flight feathers (they hide behind bushes and other stuff at the edges of the courtyard).

No pictures of this new batch, but my wife pointed me at a very cool 1000 frames-per-second video of an eagle owl (a type of owl) in flight. Enjoy!
Amazing nature - The Eagle Owl

P.S. S'posed to get into the 80's here tomorrow!!! And we're just over a week this side of Winter! Hope we get moisture soon, as the wildfire danger is already high.
