Owner's Edition Hat

Took delievery of my 2305 on June 17th and love it. I also own a 4 year old LT180.

Yesterday I recieved, in the mail, a flyer from John Deere informing me that I had an "Owner's Editition Hat" reserved for me (picture shows "owners edition" mongrammed on the side of the bill of the hat). This flyer had a customer ID # (which you can enter on JD's Web Site - but you can send the flyer back also) along with a tear off business card with my JD Dealer information on it. I am just posting this to see if there are any others out there who have recently purchased a JD that had also recieved this. I felt this was a very nice gesture on the part of JD corporate - a free hat is not much but it does show some marketing savy and lets the customers of JD know, in a small way, that they care - thanks JD

Year and a half ago, you didn't even have to send in the coupon. The hat just showed up in my mail box. I agree, it is a nice gesture, and my "Owner's Edition" hat doesn't get worn when I am actually on my tractor. It's reserved for State Fairs, Ag Shows, etc.

I am covered for JD hats for the next several year. I got the owners edition last year when I bought a mower. Traded it this year for a 2520 and bought a gator. Now I have three owner editions, plus three hats I picked out at the dealer. They give a free hat with every purchase. I even talked them out of an extra one for my 2 year old son. JC
Just remembered the hats I got this year came with a Deere decal and a 20% off coupon for home maintenance kit.

Yeah I got a hat from my dealer in Washington when I bought the LT180. I finagled three hats plus a sweater from the dealer here in Rhode Island (Connecticut really – goodness everything is sooo close in New England) when I purchased the 2305. So I think I will follow Jeff's lead and not wear the "Owner's Edition" except on special occasions provided, of course, I can keep it out of the hands of both my better half (she who must be obeyed – but who okayed the 2305 purchase) and son.

Just felt it a nice gesture from JD as they were not doing that, or rather did not do that when I purchased the LT180 (not an inexpensive riding mower) back in ’02.

Yeah - but did you get a 'Gator?

When I was getting a quote for my tractor my wife (who wants a Gator) asked the salesman if he was 'throwing in a Gator'. He winked and said he could "get the numbers to work that way if we wanted..." (I said that's OK, nevermind!)

When the driver showed up to deliver the tractor weeks later - don't he show up with a bag full of hats, keyrings,... and a 'gator for my wife! (1/16 size).

We got a good chuckle out of that.

I got my Owner's Edition hat some time later - but now my wife (we bought her an LT160) has her own as well!

I have seven hats now. That is the only reason I buy new tractors, to replace an old hat.

I think one has to go into a certain level of "brokeness" to get the hat.....

Got the same hat and it is a nice one. I agree that I'll wear it, but not while driving the Deere.

Have to make a comment about the MADE IN CHINA label. Guess I'm one of the few who remember the "look for the union label" ad from a while back.

I agree on that. This hat don't come from the dealer, it comes from JD credit.

How do you get an owners edition hat? Dealer gave me a hat when I bought my new tractor, mower, and loader, but nothing what your talking about. Maybe just my dealer or have to use J.D. credit.

Just like my post says, Go through JD credit and they will give you a hat. JC

I think the dealer can sign you up for one as well - we paid cash for the lawn tractor but they still sent her an owner's edition hat a few weeks later. (I put her name on the bill of sale since it was for her to cut the lawn )

Timb, you let her mow??? You are a better man the me. I have not let on to my wife how easy the new 3120 is to operate compared to the 790 which she did not want no part of . I'd much rather be out mowing than doing dishes (which she'd make me do).

She'll only run her lawn tractor (LT160), she won't even get on the 4710 so I still get brush hog seat time.
