Ozone Generators

I have used an ozone generator at times over the last ten years or so. I mostly use it in cars. We have had a lot of trouble with mice crawling between body panels in both our cars and dying there, you don’t know about it until the stink arrives, at that point, the ozone machine has been a necessary weapon. I once had a pickup that smelled so bad of mouse pee,especially when left out in the sun, that I considered setting the darn thing on fire out of frustration, ended up selling it way too cheap just to get rid of it.

I sold an O3 generator to a motel that had a customer cook some spicy Indian food in the room. The smell permeated the carpet, drapes, etc.. I gave it to them to use on trial with the condition if it worked, they'd buy one.

Pipe smoker lived in my home prior to me buying...

When HVAC is on not really noticeable.

But with everything off for few days the odor is noticeable.

Even had someone ask me if I smoked... which I never have but the pipe smoke lingers for years?

Not much carpet but I have yet to repaint...

Thought about getting something to freshen things up... but have not yet

You will need some TSP and need to scrub down all walls, ceilings, surfaces etc. to try and remove the accumulated tar. Old neighbor had chain smokers in there and the only way the new neighbors got rid of the tar was to gut the place down to the studs and redo.

Did a quick scan of 8 or 9 of them on Jeffazon, some brand name, some Chineseum. Not a single one mentions power consumption in wattage. As I recall, the electrostatic units suck power hard, like sucking your electric meter in through the wall hard. Like dimming your lights hard. Like jacking your monthly utility cost up significantly. Maybe all that has changed, but personally, of all the various labeling and consumer information laws out there, power usage in watts is one that should be mandatory for all electrical devices.

Too many of them show under 100 to be considered accurate, unless they're only being used very intermittently.

I own and use several high output ozone generators. For mold and persistent odor remediation high O3 concentrations are required, which are well beyond safe limits for humans and pets. Even with high concentrations, multiple applications are required. Make no mistake - these things can be dangerous if not properly used!

I made an Excel spreadsheet that calculates the resulting O3 ppm in a particular space based upon the generator output, as well as a half-life calculator to determine when an unventilated space is safe to enter.

Many household ozone generators are marketed as air purifiers, and are capable of producing dangerous levels of ozone.

Uh, SHA power consumption is rarely mentioned in ads. Most consumers wouldn't know a watt if 100 of 'em knocked them off their feet. Rarely a selling point.

Wattage IS listed on the label of every electrical widget I own, including HFT, TSC, & all the American branded stuff that's sourced from China.

Some folks RTFM, some don't read labels. Maybe they don't think there any reason to. Even tiny phone chargers list input/output power on their labels.

One of our techs was complaining that people weren't reading his email instructions about installing and using a new VPN client, completely. He said, they stopped reading after install instructions, where the next step was to start and login to the client.

I have one I use quite a lot.
I set timer and run...no people or pets in area. After a few hours I open doors, windows.

I concur, they work well. Got rid of the smell from a dead rat in my truck.
