Paint for Expanded Metal

Hello all,

I am going to be using some expanded metal sheets for some of my outdoor projects. They will be partly in the ground. I want to put a protective coating on them. What type of paint/coating would you reccomend?

I'd consider brush on truck bed coating sold at Lowes.
