Pallet fork length

I am going to order a set of forks from Titan. They offer 36, 42 and 48 inch lengths. I am going with either 42 or 48. My tractor is a Kubota L3430. My inclination is go with 42" for the purpose of not having the extra length out front to negotiate around buildings etc. Since this will be my first set of forks, maybe you guys can pitch in with your thoughts, recommendations, etc.

42" is the best all purpose I think. 36" is too short and 42" lets you pick up pallets without having to worry about sticking out the other side.

It is easy to make extensions with channel iron for picking up things that are big but relatively light like pickup beds.

I went with 48" and use them for pallets and tree logs, lifting things with chains like air compressors and tables etc. I work in close quarters sometimes. I never once though to myself, "Gee, I wish they were shorter."

Count me in the 42" category. They handle all pallets, skid boxes, and standard reusable liquid totes and who needs extra length going along for the ride or sticking out the other side to catch on things.

What I use my pallet forks for. I have never measured what there length is. I know there about 6in shy of covering a 4ft round bale. So 42in? I often wish they were longer but these get the job done.

I love my forks, never even had the bucket mounted, I have been able to do EVERYTHING with forks and a rear blade lol. Snow removal, hauling, light ground engagement, feeding cattle mineral tubs (250lbs), feeding cattle with round bales (700lb-1500lbs) ext. that big bale was easily over 1000lbs.

If I had to buy them for what I use them for, I would go with 48 but 42 should be just fine.

I would get one with a nice tall guard like mine or taller, saves crap from falling back towards the tractor.

It depends on what you will be using them for. I started with 24", no pallets, mostly brush.

Count me in for 42" forks. They work great for me for all the previous reasons.

I have the 42 inch Titan forks. I don't know if it's just me, but I have had them come disconnected 4 or 5 times and fall to the ground. No damage, always when nothing was on the forks. I bought them because the price was right, but I would not buy another one or recommend them to anyone, because I Don't fully trust them anymore.
