Pallets in fields

When I burn dismembered pallet slats, should I feel bad? Or should I be sleeping with one eye open? I do have 3 dogs in the bedroom that could easily pee on any criminal pallet break ins. Oh, wait, they are girl dogs. Maybe I need to repent my sins

I visited a local Farmer's Market a couple of days ago; spotted this very nice hand crafted coffee table. Upon closer observation, it was a mosaic of different colored/textured and repurposed pallets. I was strangely drawn to it; but I refused to touch it. When I went down the aisle and turned came back up the next aisle, I could have sworn it moved a good two feet toward me. I beat it out of Dodge.

In a related fashion, one thing that no one ever talks about being an adult is how much time you debate yourself on keeping a cardboard box because it's, like, a really good box!

The Wife and I have this conversation on a weekly basis. She always wants them gone immediately after opening ... until she's looking for a good box for something, and I remind her of the perfect box that she insisted we toss or burn.

None too different than keeping pallets around, really. Although, they require even more security than pallets, as even a moderate wind could get them up and on the march.

I try to keep boxes at least until the return or warranty periods have ended. Some merchants insist on 'original condition including packaging ... '. Also for some more fragile or hard to pack items, I'll keep the boxes in storage. Some of them came in real handy for an interstate move to protect those items.

Diggin It, you must buy top quality boxes. Mine don't even come with a warranty.

Yes, the warranty on the box is to protect the inner contents. You'll notice the cheap blow molded bubble pack stuff doesn't have much in the way of warranties.


And no, I don't store the boxes on pallets.
