I was using my 1220 today cleaning up some snow and ice and a panel lamp came on. On the 1220 there are four lamps in a row. There were icons on these lenses at one time, they are gone. When I looked in the manual it doesn't say which lamp is which. I believe from left to right are Gen/Temp/Oil Pressure/Glow plug. Now being sure it wasn't the oil pressure light, I put the tractor away. It was the second lamp from the left which I believe is coolant temp. The tractor was not running hot?

Is there a simple test for the oil pressure sending unit and the temp sensor? Seems like I should be able to jumper or open the harness to test.
Thanks, Curt

Curt,

Just to determine which sending unit is lighting the idiot light, disconnect the ring terminal from the each sending unit and see which one turns off the light.

Both sending units operate by completing the electical path to ground. For the temp sensor, it is a variable resistor. For the oil pressure, it is a normaly closed switch (completing path to ground - light on) that is opened when suficient oil pressure is achieved.

Hope that helps

There may be a sensor in the coolant overflow jug. It Indicates the level is low in the jug. Just adding some will make the light go out. I think the jug should be 1/3 to 1/2 full.

Thanks for the advice, I'll take a look as soon as it warms up just a bit!
