I don't know if the seals would dry up in 3 years but sitting is never good for these things. Was the tractor sitting outside? I'm sure you checked for water in the fuel.

The park brake isn't set or stuck is it?

To mention the obvious, have you checked the hydraulic fluid? Look at the fluid and see if it is discolored. If it looks milky it could have gotten water in it while it was stored.

I would try running it for a while and run the 3PH up and down. If you can get it to move drive it around for a while. It might be possible to unstick a stuck valve by using the tractor for a while.

I hope all of you guys don't think I'm being rude by answering all of he last three posts at once but, here goes:
First, I would like to thank everyone who responded to my post and tried to help with my weird problem.
Second, She's up and running like she should be. The problem was that she was only running on two cylinders. Some kind of debris had gotten into the injector pump and was clogging the little orfice in the fitting that the line connected to. After cleaning that out and adding a bottle of injector cleaner, I have already run the whole tank of fuel out of it and put a real serious hurt on some of the yaupons around here. I love it! It's like my riding lawnmower on steroids!!!
THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE

Terrific Wesley! Sure glad that is all it was. I know you'll have a blast with the tractor.

Yeah, blast may be the right word. Even if it isn't, this sure beats the pants off of trying to bush hog with the old 8N. Now, if I can just break myself from stomping on the clutch every time I want to stop, or change directions...

Some of us only have 2 cylinders! Glad you got it running and I am sure you will have a lot of fun using it.

( Kenny,
I checked today and the guy did drain all of the fuel and replaced it when he replaced the fuel filter. I'm still going to go ahead add a bottle of injector cleaner to it, especially since I know it has never been done before. Can't hurt, right? )

Not to cause any hard feelings but, If you'll read the posts you will see that I never said that I got it from my grandfather. I said that I got my hands on this tractor and later I said that it was my grandfather's. Grandpa had Parkinsons really bad and couldn't drive the tractor when he bought it in '98 but he would get my uncle and then me to disc up his garden every year ( approx. 75' X 60') and he would plant whatever he wanted and wouldn't let anyone have anything out of the garden, even when he couldn't pick, or use everything he grew. Grandpa was notorious in San Jacinto county for being tight and burying money all over the county because he didn't trust banks. For the past several years he has lived with my mother and then he died in January '05. He had $29,000 in cash hidden in his room. If he could have seen the funeral that bought, he would have died all over again. It may sound like I didn't like my grandpa, but I really did. He was just odd in his own way(s). Anyway, my mother inherited all of his stuff, including the little tractor and she took this long to make up her mind that she really wasn't going to do anything with it. Meanwhile, a couple of my younger sisters have been trying to talk her into letting them have it, so they could play around with it, even though they both have considerably larger tractors, as I have my old 8N. One of my sisters lives next door to my mother and that sister's "significant other" is the "guy" who changed out the fluids and filters because he thought my mother was going to let my sister use the tractor to mow his rental properties. This irritated my mother because, he has 3 or 4 tractors, a trac hoe, a couple of trucks, trailers, and various other equipment. My mother remembered that I have been wanting to restore my old 8N and she figured that I could get more real use out of the Kubota and so she gave it to me.
That should answer any questions anyone might have but, if not, just let me know...
Sorry it was so long but, I wanted to cover all of it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Your Grandpa made me think of the movie "Second Hand Lion". If you have not seen it, you should.
