Looks good !

Seeing as my project has stalled due to a lack of time and motivation, maybe I'll reconsider and use the simpler approach.

Hi Mike and Jerry, Both solutions look good to me. That brake is the only thing that I don't like about my TC-30. Mike can you give us particulars on the tubing you used? Length and diameter? And where did you get brass tubing? Would it be possible to weld some tubing to the existing lever?

sincerely,

Hi Jerry,
The TC30 is the best bargain out there! Thanks for the welcome.

Particulars??? I saw the tubing at one of the big box stores - Lowes or HD - and thought " that outta work" and darned if it didn't - the clamp is a cable clamp that I had laying around -- trust me.. there was extremely little thought actually expended on this. it just happened. Remember the reason for extending it in the first place was I was too stupid to remember to kick it off so it had to be raised up where I'd see it - making it easier to reach was just a byproduct. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I suppose you could weld an extension on - I didn't want anything that permanent in case it didn't work or I didn't like it in the way - easier to go back to oem.

Shucks! How about just reaching over with the left toe and
moving the lever forward? A bit awkward at first, but the
motion can be got used to.

Alternatively, carry a stick or cane. Press the brake pedal
with the stick, and move the lock lever with the right foot.

(altho 59 yrs old and not bending well in the middle either,
i am more of the ectomorph build and wear 36 inch sleeves.
reaching the tc-30 parking brake was a bit of a stretch at
first, but i got used to it. i do understand yr problem.)

I don't think the locked parking brake actually does much
good - i have started off and worked a half hour with the
brake 'locked' too many times! All we are trying to do is
get the brake linkage moved off the sensor switch so
we can leave the seat with the engine running.

OK Mike, I think I have decided on your low-tech solution. I installed a piece of aluminum tubing with a chair tip placed on the end. The first photo is the lever in the locked position.

This photo shows the lever in the retracted or 'unlocked' position. I think I understand why NH made this lever so short. Extending it defeats the 'step through' 'open operator station' design. Extending it would have eliminated a marketing feature for them.

Jerry,
I think they made it so short for a "step thru" platform. I can see where if yours is locked, It may make it a little difficult for a big booted person to step thru.

I'm still a little confused why an extention is needed. Don't you use your left foot to set the brake lever?
