Parking Brake Question?

I have a quick question about the parking brake on the TC21D. I've been getting myself used to putting the Parking Brake on when I get off my Tractor. I do have a couple of small problems with the operation of the brake. Does anyone find it hard to release the brake at times? It seems like somthing is in the way for the brake releasing properly. I will say that the problem surfaced when I took the MMM off the tractor. When you take the mower off do you have to also take the swinging arms off. I left mine on. I disconnected at the mower. Also had a problem on my TC40D with the parking brake not wanting to release. Does it feel stiff? Mine was stiff and would release if I pushed the handle down while pressing the brake down. It was easily fixed by greasing a couple joints that I had overlooked during previous lube jobs. Of course all this is worthless if the TC21D has a different parking brake mechanism from the TC40D...

Hi DVerbarg,
On the TC21d you push down the brakes, and pull up on a lever under the seat. At that point it locks in place. The lever under the seat doesn't help with releasing the brake. You must push the brake a second time to release the brake. Thanks for the post. There is grease fitting there. May be part of the problem. Kent

By your description your parking brake works the same as mine. When you press the brake down the handle under the seat drops by itself (normally), right? If it doesn't drop, as it did in my case, I was able to push the handle down while pressing the brake. Hopefully your issue is just a simple grease job to resolve.
