Parking etiquette

I too thought about getting free labor to pick rocks around here. My old neighbor used to do that. Get kids from Germany and then exploit them. He learned that from another guy in the neighborhood (often in the news on another matter).

Best thing is, I could be some kind of Guru.

I attended some week long retreat once. We couldn't talk and were poorly fed (and paid a lot of money for that!). That guy was smart too. Had us cleaning up leaves, cleaning the premises, even the toilets!

For about AU$1000 you can spend a weekend mustering cattle about 10 miles up the road, horse and some rough accommodation provided along with some burnt food.
They would have to pay someone to do it otherwise.
Funniest part about it is that the female to male ratio is about 3:1 and the young blokes think they are on a sure thing, almost none have ever been on a horse before and after 10 hours in the saddle carnal thoughts are the last thing on their minds with bruised and swollen wedding tackle.

Maybe they should ride double...

When people park too close to me I tend to fold in their break-away mirrors. Doesn't damage anything, but they typically don't notice the mirrors are disturbed until they're in, then they have to get back out again to put the passenger's side mirror back in place. Best part is some of the people in those fancy cars don't know that the mirrors can do that!

I fold mine in and curse when I get back on the road, having forgotten.

Mine do it automatically but I override them in the car wash.
Can be funny when I approach my car and unlock it remotely, the mirrors open out and sometimes give someone standing close by a tap.
Get a few dirty looks from some women who think their luck just changed.

This discussion reminds me of a former co-worker who never wanted to pay for parking, we worked at the capital campus in Olympia, parking at that time was assigned and cost about $10 a month, private parking in downtown Olympia was about $50-$70/month. It was a great deal. This guy would park in the surrounding neighborhoods in 1-3 hour parking and have to go move his car 3-4 times a day, this resulted in him spending his breaks and lunch time out moving his car around. He was usually several blocks away at best. If the legislature was in session, parking got really scarce if you didn't have a spot. If he heard i was going on leave he would try and get me to tell him what my lot/slot number was so he could camp in my spot while I was gone. On principle I never would:D. Several coworkers did and several would also give him a bogus location. There was a pretty good fine for parking tickets in Olympia and the State Patrol would fine you and attach a 55 gallon oil drum to your car if it was illegally parked on campus. I don't think he ever came out ahead by not paying for a parking spot on campus!

I forged my parking pass in College. Terrible, but it was great fun. The worst part of dating women in the city, was I would always get parking tickets! A lot of sleepless nights, listening for bylaw enforcment!

I don't have mine set to fold automagically, because here in the wilds of Vermont there is generally lots of space available. However, I DO (manually) fold them in through the car wash, or usually one of the spinny arm things will whack one or the other of them. Plus, it makes it easier to get to the payment kiosk.
