I cannot get any air injected into the tire stem of a Kubota L3710. This is an industrial tire and has slime in it The tire is 3/4 flat. I rotated the tire so the stem is in the up (90 degree) position. Took the cap of the stem off and a tiny amount of air and slime came out. I had a portable air tank filled with about 90 psi and tried to fill the tire with this. Could not get any air into tire. The hose and nozzle of the air tank seem to be working properly. Could the problem be slime in the tire stem? Do I need a higher psi in the tank to force the air in?

Sounds like the valve stem is clogged. If you push the valve stem with the stob on the back of the pressure gauge, does any air come out? If not you may have to remove the stem valve. They make a slotted value stem remover that will unscrew the spring loaded valve. You can proably get one at a hardware store that sells tire tubes. TSC might have one also. if that does not work you might have to replace the whole value stem.
Good luck,
Keith

The cap of the valve stem has a slotted end. Is this for unscrewing/removing the spring loaded valve? I will try pressing on the valve stem with a tire guage to see if air leaks out. I guess if you remove the spring loaded valve all the air will leak out of the tire. If so is it easy to clean and reinsert the spring loaded valve into the stem? The valve stem for the tire is on the inside of the tire facing the axle and fender. This makes it more difficult to reach. Is this the normal position for the valve stem on industrial tires for the grand L series or could my rear tires be on wrong?

Thanks for your help.

On a 3710, the track is adjustable by reversing the tires and rims in relation to the center disc. It would be a lot easier for you to remove the wheel and work on the valve stem.

By the way, the front track isn't adjustable.

The relationship of the wheel/center disc is plainly stated in your owners manual along with the track measurements. As long as you have the wheel(s) off, check the torque of the mounting bolts. That's something most owners don't do but should.

TSC or your local auto parts store will have replacement valve cores and a 4 way valve tool. one end is a reamer, one is a valve removal tool, one end is a pointed tool and one end is useless. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
